Has or does anybody grow their own veg here? Really miss Savoy cabbage, Swede, parsnips, turnips, celeriac and lovage. Trying to grow cabbage at present (January king) but would love to grow dark cabbages. Does anyone else miss King Edward potatoes or are you all used to having only one variety of spud?

We grow fantastic cherry tomatoes... OK I know it's technically a fruit but everyone uses it as a vegetable... We've only got about four plants and they have been prodicing all summer long and continue to do so... We are trying with the root veg and have had some success with carrots waiting to see on the parsnips

I grow broccolli ,cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions, broad beans and coriander mostly. I haven't seen the savoy cabbages over here so you would need seeds from England I think. The broad beans ( Bakla) are fantastic raw with hellim, olives and bread for lunch. Very Cypriot !!! Funny thing is we don't like cooked broad beans . To me a potato is a potato although we do miss new potatoes

I am growing a sweet potato at the moment - yes just one - the others died. What the heck smaller portions, less carbs and calories!

Came to live here 2 months ago.planted peas, broad beans, dwarf french, and potatoes didn't use that had got eyes.about 6 weeks ago.The broad beans are nearly 2 ft.high, the peas are in flower, and saw first pod today.dwarf beans slow but ok.Potatoes peeped through this week,so eathed them up.Peppers and aubergine planted in hols are still fruiting. Bought a few strawberry plants, runners now have been transplanted.Salad plants, rocket lettuce are also doing well.First year is experimentation, and so many peas/beans to put nitrates in the ground.Friends bringing out other seed eg brocolli, cauli, and sweetcorn next month.I grew sweetcorn in a polytunnel in UK.Rushed to the barbie, wrap in foil,a taste to remember..This will be first season, checking if it needs manure for next season.Hope this gives you encouragement to try

November and December are the time to pick the Papaya, though this year the crop is not so good due to the lack of rain. If you like this tropical fruit it is not too difficult to grow though it does not bear decent sized fruit until the third year.

Growing 'Runner Beans' at the moment in containers (the quality of the soil at our villa is very very poor), they appear to be doinging well. This our second growth this year. also strawberries did extremely well during the summer.

We have had an allotment in the UK for nearly 7 years now and have had great fun growing vegetables and when the children came along we got them involved too. They love it and I think it's great for children to see where vegetables and fruit comes from - some children dont know where a carrot comes from! We have grown courgettes (loads of them!), pumpkins, butternut squash, runner beans, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, beetroot (which we have pickled), sweetcorn (cobs), leeks, brussel sprouts, rhubard and tomatoes (oh and chilli's and peppers in the greenhouse). All the veg really does taste a lot better than the supermarkets. Happy growing

You can buy packets of 'Mr Fothergills' seeds from Lemar, and I think I saw some Sutton's seeds somewhere as well.
