After the ongoing salvage of oil off the 'Rena' cargo ship which hit rocks off Tauranga, NZ three weeks ago spilling some of its heavy fuel oil causing a massive beach & sea/wild-life pollution cleanup, do the Dutch feel left out?! A cargo ship Schelde Trader was this morning towed out to sea after losing power and hitting rocks near Mauao in the entrance to Tauranga Harbour.

The 133 metres long ship, carrying a Dutch flag, went aground just passed North Rock and the lighthouse at 10.35am after leaving Port of Tauranga and heading for Noumea.

Two tugs were close by and wrenched the ship from the rocks.

Port company acting chief executive, Graeme Marshall, said the ship appeared to lose power departing from Tauranga.
