Could I ask, did you get your diagnosis here in NC or in UK?

Perhaps people could tell palmnut where they had their cataracts done and their experiences of that establishment. Think that's what he needs. Sorry if I am wrong Palmnut but it sounded like you needed some reassurances. Good luck with it all.

Let me know by PM if you want the details

İ knew that my parents' problems would potentially lead to problems for me. They did!

Went to Cyprus Eye Clinic in Girne- confirmed.

Went back to UK, got confirmation - same problem.

Had it done in Girne - one eye done for 800 pounds within 4 days.

All return visits free of charge.

There have been questions ref diagnoses at the above clinic ,(seach on Cyprus 44 engine), but personally İ had no problems - then again İ knew what the diagnosis was going to be. More a case of when and how much.

Hope this helps

palmnut - have you considered returning to the UK for your operation (having it done privately, obviously)? I'm not sure how much it costs here these days, but I did note that padisha paid £800.00 for one eye, which you may find comparable to the UK.

Just a thought and possibly worth a look.

PS I've had both eyes done - absolutely nothing to worry about

Hi Palmnut had cataract removal done on Tuesday this week at Cyprus Eye Hospital Lower Belapaise Road.

Dr Hatica did first rate job am now in the process of the follow ups all Ok total bill for operation was 1500TL depending on rate on the day between £520 and £550. Had same job done on other eye in BUPA hospital in 2002 at a cost of £2000. The initial consultation fee is 90TL at the clinic. You also have to have a blood test and a doctor check to say you are fit for the operation, so allow 75TL for bloods and whatever a local GP will bill you for.

Can highly recommend her and her care.

I had one eye done in Girne 5 years ago for 800 pounds with ZERO problems.

Two weeks ago had the other eye taken care of in Sofia this too without any problems

The price was almost the same except in Sofia I spent half a day being examined from

top to bottom just to make 100% there would be zero risk prior to surgery.

Satified with both but were I to do it all over again it would be a Sofia because of the

pre exams and the few days of holiday time. Good luck

Would it be better,

to get medical attention in say Adana, Turkey rather than TRNC?

I hear the whole spectrum of medical services are supposed to be better on the mainland and flights to Adana aren't expensive.
