Ex president Rauf Denktash has been released from hospital. I am sure his family never thought they would see this day.

I saw him on tv leaving the hospital in a wheel chair. He looked exhausted and partly paralysed. Apparently a special room fully equipped has been set up for him at home.

ismet

PS: Recently he commented that politically the left always gave him trouble and now even the left side of his body is not obeying him.

That remark does you no favours Yorguzlu, this is a frail old man who has been seriously ill for many months.

He will be sorely missed when the 'grim reaper' comes!!

All he strived for in his presidency and before has now been hijacked by greedy morons!

Shame that he will get the blame!

@ msg 3, gooligan: I second your post.

Excuse me for this (I know some Dutchmen read this board also): Lang moge hij leven, de ex-president en mede-stichter van Noord-Cyprus! Wat een bijzondere man. Beterschap, meneer de President!

there is a very fine line between terorist and saveiour.

I watched my own dad suffer all his life because of his earlier life experiences, for so called freedom.

@ msg 17, yorgozlu: (...) for someone that knows nothing about our sufferings. (...)

▶ Do you happen to blame Mr. Denktaş for the (your father's) sufferings?

Yorg has a better understanding than you. Denktas was blame for the breakdown in 2003.

Annan said

"He concluded by describing the breakdown as the last in a long line of

missed opportunities. In measured but trenchant terms he set out the

responsibility of Denktash for the breakdown: 'in the case of the failure of

this latest effort I believe Mr Denktash, the Turkish Cypriot leader, bears

prime responsibility', and 'except for a very few instances, Mr Denktash

by and large declined to engage in negotiations on the basis of give and

take'. He said little that was critical of the Turkish government, express-

ing the hope that '[it] will soon be in a position to throw its support

unequivocally behind the search for a settlement, for without that support

it is difficult to foresee one being reached'. For Clerides he had little but

praise: 'He did not feel wedded to tried and true formulas; he was quite

prepared to explore approaches different from his own"

▶ Hmmm.

This is what you wrote in another thread: "The Greeks arrived in Cyprus more than 2000 years ago, the Turks 340 years ago."

A lot of errors in one line.

I don't think you are qualified to judge other people here.

Dutch, maybe I'm not qualified but i reckon both David Hannay and Kofi Annan have a better knowledge of Cyprus than you. My quote was from his book "The Search for a solution" Educate yourself and read it.
