I normally use iplayer to download BBC programmes - using My Private Network VPN - overnight, to watch the next day.

Today it seems to have 'lost' all its downloads, there is nothing listed in any category, e.g. 'Watch now', 'Coming soon' etc. - nor does it show anything new that I select for download.

I tried all the usual computer tricks, closing and re-starting iplayer, closing and re-starting Windows, un-installing and re-downloading & re-installing iplayer - but just the same.

There are no error messages, I can still watch BBC programmes live, or by streaming older ones, & I can still download BBC programmes for viewing with Windows Media Player. However when I try to download for iplayer, the iplayer tab on the taskbar flashes orange as normal, but there's not the usual message to say 'acquiring download information' (or whatever), and nothing happens - I can see on Task Manager that there is no download activity, and nothing appears in the iplayer prog. list... Help!

Some things to try, maybe.

Try a different browser

Delete iplayer directory in [root]/users/[username]/appdata/roaming/ (might be different path if not win7)

Unistall Iplayer AND adobe Air and delete BBC iplayer directory as above and reinstall

Cheers Erol,

I was hoping for a non-labour-intensive solution, but I'll go with that...

This particular machine runs Vista, and uses the Chrome browser.

Actually, I might just try installing iPlayer / Air on another machine / operating system first - if it works, it might give me a bit more confidence

By the way, this isn't the machine that I contacted you about the other day - that one is fixed, and well on the way to full health - due to the very knowledgeable young chap at ACDINC in Karakum supplying the parts I needed to fix my motherboard.

I would recommend them to all, whether you possess any technical knowledge, or not.

We're having same problem with live news - says we havent enough band width - but with everything else its ok - wondered if it was just server probs which is why catchup is ok?
