Whenever I have to do the Larnaca Aiport run, I drive down the from Lefkosa on the motorway, we have all done it and I have to confess, much as i love this island, the red barren landscape either side of it looks like the surface of Mars, albeit on a good day. What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKy-jAtMiQI&feature=related

Lemtich, The problem with footage like that is that we have no way of knowing that the pics were actually taken on Mars. Just looking at it now, it could be South Cyprus, Afghanistan, in fact any one of a thousand places on earth. Chris

Having enjoined the beauty that was Cyprus in the 1950s and 1960s I too find the views from that motorway a sadness. The air polution is also very apparant. There was a time when arriving by air to the Island, and when the aircraft doors were opened, there was an instant inflood of oxygen laced with fresh pine. A smell unique to Cyprus complete and a wonderful anticipation of the natural beauty to see and fresh air to breathe across the whole Island. Clear, clean, fish stocked, seas also !

Interesting photos Lem. I agree with Chris though - how do we know for sure that they are taken from Mars!
