A man will be (X) years old in the year (X2). How old will he be and in what year?

Clue: It has to be in the 20th Century.

Sorry but the question is not clear at all. Suppose x=53

What does (x2) mean?

a) Is it 532 or

b) Is it 53 times 2 i.e. 106 ?

In either case the answer can be anything you wish to make.

There must be a catch here some where as any year in the 19th century would make him at least 950 (1900/2).

Yes this really is quite simple, as you say, it's for 11 year olds. If V is a connected open subset of R that projects bijectively to a connected open subset U of , then identifying V and U (via the projection) identifies the restriction of log to V with a holomorphic function from U to , and this function is a branch of log z. Every branch of log z arises in this way.

Hence If you consider this : If it takes 2 men a week to walk a fortnight, How many apples in a bunch of grapes? Then you will arrive at the correct answer.

Okay, try this little test.

Intelligence test

I came across this somewhere....

Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK?

Let's find out just how clever you really are....

First Question:

You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?

Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are

absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!

Try not to screw up next time.

Now answer the second question,

but don't take as much time as you took for the first question,OK?

Second Question:

If you overtake the last person, then you are...?

Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?

You're not very good at this

Third Question:

>Very tricky arithmetic! Note: This must be done in your head >only.

>Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.

>Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30.

>Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add >10. What is the total?

>Did you get 5000?

>The correct answer is actually 4100.

>If you don't believe it, check it with a calculator!

>Today is definitely not your day, is it?

>Maybe you'll get the last question right...

>...Maybe.

Eh? I get 4200. How? Oh, I forgot to tell you. I lost an arm in a car race and now have only 5 fingers left. I do my counting in base 5.

Maybe someday you will get some real brains.

... Maybe.

>Fourth Question:

>Mary's father has five daughters: 1- Nana, 2- Nene, 3- Nini,

>4- Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?

>Did you Answer Nunu?

>I hope not!

>Of course it isn't.

>Her name is Mary. Read the question again!

Whaaaaat?

3, 6, 9, 12, 15, __

Well, you get dartboards in pubs but the sequence jumps all around the board in no particular pattern. Pool balls are numbered but again no pattern, are we on the right track with pub games?

My understanding is of the theory that each odd-positioned number x_n is equal to x_{n-1} + (x_{n-1} - x_{n+2}) and each even-positioned one is equal to x_{n-1} * 4/((n/2)+1). The sequence would then be 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 15, 15, 12... But I guess I'm wrong! You wait 'til chessman sees this

Can you construct a grammatically correct sentence with the word "and" in it five times in succession?

That is like this

{..................} and and and and and {.......................}

A man did when writing to complain about the new sign on his pub not being quite right.....

According to the sign, the name of the pub was "The Pig and Whistle"

Regarding the Pub sign

Dear sirs

You have got the sign wrong it says the Pig and and Whistle not the Pig and Whistle and "and and" and "and" are two completely different things.

Funny... I put in "A hole?" Three times and the BB would not accept it... just kept redisplaying this page... maybe there is advanced insult-spotting software employed now...

Nearly right... it has to be grammatically correct without any additional punctuation...

Dear Sirs

I am writing to complain about the new sign you have erected at my premises. The nature of my complaint is this, the gaps between pig and and and and and whistle are not the same.

Yours faithfully

Back to back they faced each other,

Pulled out knives and shot each other!

Re the Savoy,.. correct!

The Savoy considered a Chauffeur in a right hand drive car would be discourteous to his passengers if he had to waste time walking around the car to let them out on the pavement side.

On a 'right hand' road he could instantly open the door for them!

Still happens today. Though the Savoy is closed for a multi £m refurbishment, the Theatre is still open and the road is planned to stay RH drive!
