What am I expected to pay if I sold my property in NC? Just had an offer and not sure what taxes I am liable for, also, as I am in the UK, can I get power of attorney to save us flying over fir the required signatures?

''' Msg 1 - Have you not asked your estate agent? If you are not sure maybe you should ask your TRNC bankers (who we assume will be taking the money when you are paid) as they will probably be liable for exporting your money and profits. Also you need to look at what the UK taxman may want from you. Like many here I am no expert on this.

we sold our place only a few months ago, and it was 130K, we ended up with 12k1K............so around £9000 for estate agent, KDV and any other tax that the government can gert from youi. £2500 is being held for tax when the assessment is done on our place for a "TAX".......and we were told by our estate agent that it is done by counting our trees!!!!!!!!!!!! Well we put in 15 and we had an enormous Olive already on the land. Supposidley this happens on over 3/4 donum......BUT WHO KNOWS!!!!

A local man could not believe what we were told either. If we could we would have got back and removed them all............but then our purchasers would not have been very happy.

It is actually illegal to cut down certain types of trees here (cant remember all but includes olives and fruit trees. ) Yes , I know, tell lthat to the builders/develoopers but it does happen to tree preservation order trees in the UK too. Just in case you are tempted - you could end up with fines on top of all else.................
