Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have signed a new agreement within the framework of the natural gas and oil exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The agreement regarding the licenses issued for the Turkish Petroleum Corporation on oil zone services and Share of Production was singed between the Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun and General Director of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation Mehmet Uysal in the presence of Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz.

Speaking before the signing ceremony, the Turkish Minister reiterated that Turkey will not be the partner of Greek Cypriot Administration in its recent activities which are contrary to the international law.



Stating that the Greek Cypriot Administration and the US Company Nobel have not yet announced the shares for the two peoples on the island, he said Turkey, Turkish Petroleum Corporation and the TRNC have made a very clear and transparent agreement which will be based on the international law.



Also speaking, the TRNC Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun accused the Greek Cypriot Administration of ignoring the Cyprus Turkish People’s rights on and around the island and said it is unlikely to accept the denial of Cyprus Turkish People’s will power and existence in Cyprus.
