In Ozankoy , recently, I went into two bars and asked for a glass of wine. In one I was told the price was 7.5tl for a 750cl glass, cok para. In the next I was was told 7.5tl also for a tulip glass that appeared to be about 125cl.I had a beer instead.

If memory serves, a box of Simonay (3 litres) costs 30tl, approx 40kour for a 175ml serving! a mark up of staggering proportions.

My advise to you is this. 1. Ensure that you get a 175cl glass full

and 2. That you pay no more than 3tl (as a Turkish Cypriot friend was charged in bar number two).

What ever happened to charge fairly and keep the punters?

A 75cl Glass is still more than a standard bottle. I think you may be confusing cl and ml.

10 tl a shot of Jagermeister at the Old Mill. It's 25tl a bottle in the Supermarlets. I don't know why anyone would want to drink it anyway as it's vile!

Well with winter here and the tourists numbers dwindling if people vote with their feet maybe they will be more competitive. If not they will fold.

Bacchus wine bar , good food and drink and great atmosphere.

It's in Catalkoy on the right hand side of the main road as you head East about 300 yards further on from Tempo supermarket.

I was in the Old Grapevine (Central Girne 200 yards north of the Colony Hotel) yesterday lunchtime and was given a very large glass of the house red wine (Simonay actually) for 5TL. I thought it was very good value.

5-7 tl is the average for a glass of local wine in most establishments... When trying to calculate someone else profits please bare in mind the following,,,,,,

Rent, rates, insurance, staff, electric, water, wear & tear, accountants fees, licensing, permits, tax, telephone, advertising....etc etc
