Now, I'm not one to complain but...... 17 Lira for a local vodka and coke does seem a bit much. Where? Chateau Lambousa, When? Bonfire night!... No wonder the waterfront is mostly empty!

It wasn't me buying, I would have refused it. I think you can buy at least 2 bottles of local vodka for that price.

A mistake must have been made. Our price was TL5 for the vodka and TL3 for the can of mixer. Our price at the Waterfront is TL5 for local spirit with mixer. You could have addressed this to me directly and this would have been dealt with.

I have spoken with our manager Mr Mehmet Gunsoy - who was serving at the bar that night. He thinks that he may have discussed this with you at the time and pointed out that there was more to your order than a single vodka and coke. I very much wish to resolve this to our mutual satisfaction as my family and I are very much here for the long-haul and negative publicity in this most competitive of industries can be extremely damaging to our livelihood. So I cordially invite you to meet with us at your convenience. My tel no is 0533 862 4662.

Not for my part. Merely that an innocent mistake or a misapprehension may have taken place and that I would prefer to see it properly remedied rather than my family's livelihood suffering the detriment of unwarranted negative publicity.

As I said previously, it was not myself who was buying. I will speak to my friend and get back to you on this. I don't remember seeing a price list on display, I could be wrong though. I can appreciate that Gordon wants to sort this one out and not leave it hanging. Bad publicity is not a good thing here especially in what he rightly says, is a very competitive industry.

I really am puzzled here - why was this posted in the first place IF you did not discuss it with your friend before posting? As Gordon says remarks like this put the livelihood of the businesses in jeopardy as we have discovered time and time again on this forum. Please get facts right before posting, it would be beneficial to all involved. I will not buy anything without seeing prices up (ie markets etc) or asking first, we do that in UK so why not here?

Unfortunately, this forum propogates negativity, and many thrive on it. Everyone loves a moan, but most are afraid to actually face a situation, hence the popularity of the forum. Gordon is one of the most approaceable people around, and without a doubt reasonably well educated. This could have been addressed face to face, or simply find his pohone number om here (easy to do) and call and question it if you didn't fancy a direct face to face. From Gordon's part, he clearly wants to resolve the situation, and more importantly prevent repetition.
