Whilst I don't make light of the News, what's happening in Mumbia at the moment is horrible, but on the BBC this morning they reported that there had been a spate of wheely-bin fires around the Liverpool area, then they went on to show what happens when a wheely-bin is set on fire near someones front door! Are they mad? do they think all around the country young yobs who are watching this are thinking to themselves "Good Lord! how awfull for those poor people in that house, my heart goes out to them!" No, all it's done is put another stupid idea into their heads. Why couldn't they have just kept it on the local news where it's happening? Or maybe they think these young yobs won't be up that early anyway?

Hi britvic,

I remember a number of years ago of a murderer burning down a house to cover his tracks.

Said to my wife "that was a stupid thing to say" on the news.

Within weeks there was another similar incident reported!!!

Exactly my point Navek, just watch this space when it gets out of hand, it won't only be wheely-bins, it'll be outdoor decorations.

Groucho, you are so right, they'll think it's hillarious to film it on their phones.

Of course it will britvic. I think the news channels are secretly run by the government to put out silly news that no one is interested in to deter you from seeing what's really going on.

It's not "silly news" to the poor people in Lverpool who are having their houses set on fire, so many in fact that it's made national news, my point is, it should have been contained to the area where it's happening.

Now if I can just get off this high horse...................................................................Arghhhhhhhhhhh

Get your point Coachie, like you say lets hope the other prisoners do something about him, but as usual he will be in a private cell, for his own protection, with his own T.V and three square meals a day that we will all be paying for, I wonder if his daughters are brainwashed and think their Father has been put away unjustly,? this is normally what happens, so unfortunately for them they will be under the care of social workers probably for the rest of their lives.

I agree, but to be fair the BBC did say it had concerns on reporting the problem, but the fire brigade had requested that the problem should be highlighted because of the cost to the service.

My son was involved in the Mumbai terrorist attack and spent all night barricaded in a cafe listening to gun shots and grenades going off. I could not have cared less about wheelie bins. What I cared about was my son's safety. I still do not know for sure where he is.

I am fed up with banal trivia splashed all over the papers and on the tele.

Vicki..what annoyed me was how little coverage our media gave to it compared to the Austrian case,it was if they didnt want people to know that it happens here in there own back yard.I only heard the sentences being read out by a newscaster with a breif history how he had managed to get away with it for so long...

Flossie,

I am so sorry about what's happened to your son, god, I can't imagine what your going through, and at the start of my thread I did say "whilst I don't make light of the news, whats happenig in Mumbia at the moment is horrible".

My thoughts are with you and your family, hope you get good news soon

Flossie..I can sympathise with your worries about your son and I feel everyone on this forum would agree with me,but India is not the best place in the world for getting accurate facts.Have youtrie the FO to see if they have any better info, there was a number you could ring on the tv last night....I hope he is safe and well Flossie.

Rang the Foreign Office and got nowhere. They just said they were aware of the incident but had no info. We think that he is now on a plane to Dubai but will only know for sure when he lands and rings us. Anyone know how long the flight is to Dubai? Cannot seem to find out.

Hi Flossie

A typical flight between mumbai and dubai would have a flying time of about 2 hours, 24 minutes..........

Navek, did you mean for Flossie to post a new topic, that would be a good idea, more people to help.

Flossie a lot of people don't like starting new topics, and I undertand why, but it might be the best option as everyone will be concerned for you and your family.
