Does the Government have a hidden agenda in arming the police en masse with Taser Guns?

Is there a feeling amongst ministers that there could be civil unrest in the coming months given the financial situation in the UK?

Well, if I was a "Bobby" on the beat and a riot started I want more than a Taser..



If they are as effective as shown on many an American cop drama then, I for one think it's a reasonable amount of force to subdue an otherwise recalcitrant civilian... as for a hidden agenda... only they can tell us but it has happened before.
