Undoubtedly the West side is occupied by discerning intellectuals (plus DC) and the East side is likely to be devoid of foreigners and their vehicles on Census Day ! Wanna buy my villa ? so the answer is who knows and I suspect most don't care.

If all the bright people live on the west side, and all the dipsticks on the east, does this mean the west is a better place to live.

I don't know, Chavtalkoy is a pretty big place, loads of 'gaffs' there, but I'm still trying to figure out where "Kyernia" is.

Plenty of low energy bulbs both sides I would have said.

If you are on a really tight budget I suggest you get as far as possible from Girne (aka Kyrenia not Kyernia!))

The influx of expats sent the prices soaring, and the temptation to spend spend spend andkeep up with the Jones's is too much. Maybe Güzelyurt or Lefke but you'd probably need to learn Turkish!

I simply have to know if there is indeed an "upper class area". I'm curious as to its derivation in the environmental context.

Unfortunately given recent developments regarding extra tax, no ptp's on formally safe Turkish Title Land, and the like, there is now no such thing as a discerning ex-Pat buyer East or West ...

At one time those who paid a premium price for a property at Bellapais were dismissed as "fluffs". Those who also had a top of the range 4 X 4 and an ocean going yacht in Girne Harbour were referred to as something similar to a handle on a door !

We still think west is best, not so built up and a little bit more relaxing.

Blimey, if the west is any more relaxing than the East, you in the West must all be suffering Catatonia by now..
