co codamol is paracetamol and codeine combined. if you have a packet of what your husband is using take it to the pharmacy. they can look at the ingredients and give you the equivalant

I have tried to get Co-codamol in TRNC before and have been told by the pharmacists that they do not sell it over the counter.

Tramadol does not have paracetamol in them and you can buy them over the counter.

You have to go to a doctor to get a prescription, and the cost should just be the cost of a visit to the doctor, and then of course you have to pay for them at the chemist. The chemists are beginning to tighten up on what you can buy over the counter.

message1,

Voltarol (Diclofenic Sodium) is used in the UK for pain following a fracture and with paracetamol for breakthrough pain. It cannot be taken by asthmatics or anyone with a history of stomach problems. What was the reason given here for not recommending this for your husband?

Also not sure if this still stands but you used to be able to buy co-codamol 8/500 over the counter here but not the stronger version 30/500 which was often know as Kapake!

The safest one that we have found is Dicoflam, you do not need a prescription and they cost about 6tl. We use them quite a lot for arthritis and they appear to be better than anything prescibed in the UK. Of course we use a responsible chemist here who really keeps an eye on our intake etc!

I have used Rantudil Forte for several years now very successfully for a knee problem that would otherwise cause me quite a bit of pain. These tablets were recommended to me by an orthopaedic surgeon here because they are suitable for long term use as they have none of the side effects that things like Voltarol and Ibuprofen have. Widely prescribed here for arthritis etc. Maximum recommended dosage is 3 per day and all pharmacists stock them - about 10TL for 20 tablets.
