If like me, you use half of your luggage allowance coming back from the Uk with books, have you thought about buying a Kindle? Here's one at a bargain price

Why bring books when you can get them free from the library, or just a couple of lira from the markets.

stella, makes you wonder why people open bookshops here doesn't it? You're right for best selling fiction but I haven't found many up-to-date non-fiction books here. I remember seeing a Roger Ebert's Movie Yearbook 2011 being sold for £17 as a paperback when for £11 I downloaded the Kindle Edition. Not going to find that on a stall or in a local library and its 800 pages weighs a few kilos. On Amazon more people buy ebooks than paperbacks.

I love mine, it means I can even purchase books before they are released in the UK and the last one - Paulo Coelho new release was only £2.99, less than the book.

Of course not everbody reads fiction, some people, myself included, enjoy books on specialist subjects which are not obtainable here, I for one do bring books back with me along with certain magazines! Regards, Mrs Snakes.

I have been an avid book reader all my life and get through books at such a rate I have to keep dashing to the library. Someone gave me a kindle and it is wonderful. I have loaded it with about 20 books for a start and am now working my way through them. However I will still read some books as I just love the feel of them.

Before any snidy comments on how do I have the time to read so much. I read at night when all my chores are done.

A woman next to me on plane back to Stansted was reading one and I thought it a good thing

if you are travelling, and also (I hear) if you are reading in bed and your partner wants the light off!

My grandaughter says she is getting one for Christmas, and she is also an avid reader, as am I.

flossie - you don't have to apologise for finding time to read. It's one of life's great pleasures.
