yesterday hubby and friend popped over to get some milk.

on returning to the north he was stopped by customs.

why do you need 6 bottles of milk?

for my cornflakes!

you do know that those people can't be trusted?

you do know that they are putting chemicals in it to poison you?

you do know you will get cancer?

whats wrong with sut?

its carton milk. i don't like it on my cornflakes! or in my milkshake!

well i think we should take this and throw it away.

but its my kids birthday and then my wife can't make icecream and the kids will be crying.(our youngest is 17, more like smirnoff ice than icecream)

ok then just this once, but you do know they are poisoning you.

please do they think we are going to fall for that?

you cannot be serious!!!!!!!!!!

so much for peace talks.

I thought dairy products were banned from being transported over the border anyway.

I went to get fresh milk at the Atakara supermarket in Alsancak last August but for 3 days running there was none.

I asked the lady in charge what the problem was.

"The cows are broken, she replied.

Loved it!

There was a production problem and you are right it did disappear for a few days...

Did you know you can freeze fresh milk? You can - and it keeps fresh as a daisy (whatever that means)... Then defrost it out of the freezer and fridge (but don't forget to put it into the fridge once it's defrosted enough to use) and it keeps for a five day period from then on no matter what the original date was... In the USA they keep milk for ten days from fresh.. here it's only expected to last for five before it goes off...

I never knew you could freeze milk until one day in the UK I saw inside my sister-in-laws freezer and was amazed to see about five plastic cartons of milk... she explained and now we keep some frozen here...

Just in case the cows are broken... which does happen

and then we cry over spilt milk ;¬)

If the milk is poisonous, how come all the GC's are not sick. Do they put it out on the shelves marked "TC's and GC's so that the GC's know not to take the poisoned stuff??? What a joke. The border men are making the TC's a laughing stock. This will be reported in the GC newspapers cos sure as eggs is eggs, a GC will have seen this and told the press.

I'd laugh this off if I hadn't had a similar experience - they opened our boot, found the fresh milk and asked me to accompany them to the Gumruk so they could give me a receipt for the confiscated milk. They were doing this to all the cars. Got to the Gumruk desk where the supervisor asked them why they were confiscating the milk, surely it can be allowed through. I thought it might help if I spoke Turkish and the supervisor told me in Turkish - just this once take them across with you. While I walked back to the car with my 6 bottles of milk the guy that had taken them off me in the first place tried to stop me again, I just kept walking. He had another 3-4 cars with milk waiting so he didn't bother with me again. The faces of those having their milk confiscated while I walked through with mine was quite the picture..

musin re post 9

i wonder if the cow knows whether or not its greek cypriot or turkish cypriot?

as for why i have milk from the south is because it tastes better, just a personal thing.

the customs guy who tried it on over the milk, was seen the week earlier stuffing his face with big mac, chips and guess what a milkshake!

allytt,

did they give you a reason why you couldn't have the milk?

most of your posts have something negative to say about the trnc ,why don,t you go and live in the south that would solve all your problems.

and also your liking for greek milk .

All dairy products are banned from travelling from one state to another all meat products as well unless you have the proper clearance papers Etc. And quite rightly so! Remember foot and mouth. Mad cows desease Etc.

By all means challenge what has been said, but do this in a constructive manner. I have deleted the part of your post in which you have made a personal attack on a forum member.

And for those with much to learn, people passing through checkpoints in Cyprus are not passing from one state to another.

for me i'm lucky i have many tc and turkish friends who don't judge me because i also have gc friends.

it is you who have a serious problem with my gc friendships and my liking for the milk from the south.

you are showing yourself for what you truely are.

it lucky that not all people in the uk are such racists otherwise where would that leave you?

Stand to be corrected, but an answer to Groucho's question.

It is illegal to bring dairy products from an EU country into KKTC. It is also to take dairy products in the reverse direction.

Yes, "Cyprus" is all part of EU but as in all things concerning KKTC the bureaucrats on both side make the rules fit what ever they want.

So to all who bring dairy products from the south if they are confiscated your problem. Same as when people were bringing meat during foot and mouth scare, there is a health based reason. With milk it is the posibility of catching and worse spreading TB and Brucellosis, you really do not want either!

Again it might be worth while somebody checking the notices before you get to KKTC Immigration last time we went there was a sign stating above. But that might have changed!!!!

i don't always post negative things about the trnc.

this one is for you today, i hope it makes you happy.

today on entering the south we were stopped by greek cypriot customs and our car was searched. no they weren't polite!

it must be some sort of tit for tat arrangement!!

so as you see musin i always tell it how it is!

In the UK if you are caught smuggling illegal goods your vehicle can be forfeit.....

Musin: "and i too have many greek friends ,i too pay into the turkish economy to answer your scottish friend and i too have a home in cyprus along with the majority of my famliy ."

1. Can you name any and may I photograph you with your arms around them?

2. Wouldn't the Turkish Cypriot economy be preferable to the Turkish one?

3. What kind of title deed is it?
