See the press release below from EasyJet.

easyJet PLC ("easyJet") announced today that it has agreed to acquire the entire issued share capital of GB Airways Ltd ("GB Airways"), excluding its slots at Heathrow Airport, from the Bland Group Limited, for a cash consideration of £103.5 million.

GB Airways is primarily a London Gatwick based point-to-point airline operating to destinations across Southern Europe and North Africa under a franchise agreement with British Airways PLC ("British Airways"). easyJet will co-operate with British Airways to ensure a smooth and orderly transition for customers. To this end GB Airways will continue to operate all routes under the British Airways brand until March 29 2008 after which flights will operate under the easyJet brand.

At present GB Airways fly into Paphos so it looks as if EasyJet will simply take over that route

hi all

in my eyes not worth it ok the flight price may be cheap but when you get to paphos the time you get out of airport got a cab plus the two hours journey and then the £70 taxi you are actually better of going to istanbul with easy jet for the same price (as paphos) then getting a connecting flight from istanbul to ercan with sun express-atlas jet-onur air-pegasus for around 60-80ytl (£25-£40) and you prob do this in less the time aswell and prob work out cheaper all round

or second option b.a has just started london-dalaman or izmir for 100euros then you can get connecting flight from both airports more choice of times and prices

Paphos to Girne,I do it regulary , it will take anywhere from 2hrs to 2 and a half on a good day, that is without hold ups and rush hour traffic to Girne, add at least 30 min to Esentepe. My wife and I do not hang around 80 mph average. OOps breaking the law !!. Price £150 return Girne, £170 Esentepe.

As for ukturk's opinion, I do not agree, many off my friends and customers have saved hundreds of £'s not to mention hours saved on travel by taking the the Paphos and Larnaca routes. Note! this is not hearsay but fact, 2 years experience and busy as a Bee.

Hi Delboy

I once flew to Paphos. From Paphos I drove to Limassol and then took the motorway to Nicosia and then on to Girne. Is this the quickest way or do you recommend another? I think it took me about 2 hours 30 so it sounds like the same route?

Hi ukturk

I did think about going from Luton to Itanbul and then on to Ercan. Is it relatively easy to book a flight from Istanbul to Ercan? Can you recommend a website which will scan all the Turkish inland flights?

hi all

ilc this is one of the airlines http://www.sunexpress.com.tr/english/sunexpress-goes-london_100126_0.html

dellboy not sure about saving time the way your saying takes around 7 and a half hours door to door

ive done london via istanbul/dalaman/izmir in 6 and a half hours and that not using kthy

yes maybe in the past the price would be a major factor but over the few years with a few more airlines flying to n cyprus even using 2 different airlines does not seem worth it (to me anyway) plus i would not fly in to the south side of a matter of princeaple

Try agoratour@superonline.com, they are a company based in Lefkoşa, have just booked a ticket Stansted-Ercan for £115 for next Wednesday. Might be worth an email to find out prices from other airports.

Thanks lovingcyprus. Didn't think to look under Lefkosia

Livethedream, that's got to be the best price I have seen for a flight to NC. Does that include taxes? I know it is off peak but has anyone ever beaten that?

Living almost on East Midlands airport doorstep, we flew with Tomas Cook to Larnaca in what can only be described as a flying sardine tin, never again, as someone 5'9ins, Husband 6' it was uncomfortable. So last time I decided as I am going to live in the North I will try as much as possible to fly to the North.

We flew with Pegasos from Stansted via Instanbul, yes it was more money but there was more leg room and you get fed and watered.

Ukturk are the connections in Instanbul etc to Ercan relatively easy and are there several to choose from, and do you have to wait on the ground long?

hi lovelife

istanbull connections are very good and frequent as is izmir and dalaman

depends how you time it you can wait min 30mins to a couple of hours

or you can even get a cheap flight with flythomascook to izmir or antalya around 40pound then get the sunexpress to ercan for around 35pound

or use atlasjet from izmir or antalya to ercan

there are many options

regards

Going back to Post 18

SunExpress have not confirmed that after the end of summer 2007 they are flying to Ercan so don't book something that relies on that route until they have it selling on site. (You can look at the booking link on http://www.fezbus.co.uk .)
