I have been following the Northern Rock story since it was nationalised in 2008, as I am one of the unlucky people who had bought some shares. Luckily only a small number. Leslie Hardy has analysed the deal and filmed a video at

I also notice that he is rebuilding the house on Necker after the fire so that his daughter Holly can get married there.

I have a friend from Newcastle and he invested some savings in Northern Rock. His deposits were safe, but he also bought some shares. He has resigned himself to the complete loss for his shares.

He might be able to sort everything out if he did. That would put a rocket up everyone.

Branson might have bought Northern Rock but a cost of 400 million pounds to the tax payer

Sir Richard could buy the whole of TRNC for £747m, including the politicians and lawyers.

The question would then be whether the TRNC should be placed in the Good Bank of sweet smelling assets or the Bad Bank of Toxic Assets, which remains the responsibility of the UK taxpayer.

;-) Riddles. Better than the Turkish Delight here, got some from Lemar a couple of years back as a present for a mate and it pulled his filling out ;-)

To get to the original post, the UK gov was always going to make a loss on the sale (in my opinion), at least the gov have sold it before no one wanted it.
