| When we first moved out in 2005, we had already given everybody the address that we were staying at, not realising that there was no mail delivery. After an anxious 4 or 5 weeks and several trips to the main post office and the Alsancak branch our mail started to trickle through. At that time, it was all via the Royal Mail redirect service, everything turned up and we collected it from the Alsancak post office. We now have a P.O. Box, the redirection service has run out and we only get official looking mail. I don't think it matters whether you have a P.O. Box or not, mail just doesn't seem to get through. The advantage of having a P.O. Box is that you can pick up mail (if you get any!) anytime, finding the PO branches open in the Summer is a bit hit and miss even during the published opening hours. DC mentioned on another board that he gets all his mail from Holland delivered to a TC friend's P.O. Box so maybe that's the route to go, make a TC friend. |

| Maddie I have lived here 4 years and only get Official letters now, which is very upsetting as my 2 little granddaughters have now moved to Thailand and now I won't even receive little letters from them or cards, which is the only thing that upsets me with the TRNC I have tried to get a PO Box but they now have a waiting list, but I agree with mes 2 even they dont get any mail accept Official. | We have been very lucky and have received most of our post. The only problems we have had is with greeting cards. It seems that handwritten white envelopes cannot get through for some reason! To get round this we told our family to put cards in jiffy bags and and then we received them. Someone told us that people at the sorting office we stealing them because they may contain money and were small enough to conceal! We have a PO box in Lapta. Sue |

| chris and sue I have had problems with all mail except official letters, my family have been sending letters etc in small jiffy bags but I have never received any of them in 4 years, and its bad enough that now my family have moved to Thailand, I am now expecting no cards or letters from my grand children, and I'm getting to the stage of thinking should I stay or leave. How is this happening? Smithy |
