Hi There, just read about the folk with not enough savings to stay on the island. Does anyone know how much you are meant to have. I am sure it is posted somewhere but just thought it easier to ask. Thanks in advance of the response

I think you will find criteria is down to monthly income eg wage /pension unless resindency law has changed since yesterday , with all probability it could well have , knowing the TRNC !!!!!

I don't know but I would hazard a guess and say that if you have an monthly income equivalent to the TRNC's minimum monthly wage then I think you would be OK. This is not advice just a point for discussion. AJ Whoops thats let the cat out of the bag.

There is no laid down criteria which is why it is impossible to answer the question. I think having enough to live on is the quote but I belive you just have to be reasonable in what your income is and what your savings are. I have heard some ridiculous amounts quoted from individuals who think they can survive on over a period of time. They take no account of inflation in double figures and the vagaries of the building industry.

Cyprusishome my answer was based on the lady who was told she did not have a sufficient income to live on for her to stay in TRNC . as she just received a small income this is where the criteria comes in . Hope this makes sense .

cyprusishome There is no laid down criteria as you suggest and it is up to Government officials to interpret the rules that they have to abide by. The reason for my suggestion is that the Government sets the minimum wage to allow everyone that works in the TRNC to have an adequate standard of living and Expats that can prove that level of income should not have a problem, however other expats that have smaller incomes may or may not find themselves at the mercy of officials. And I think the minimum wage should be a base level for expats to refer to. AJ

My friend was told that you must have £7000 in bank and prove that you have a monthly pension which you draw on and can prove by your bank statements
