Just to put this to bed, I have heard from Izzet, it was not him or deleted the post on Guido,s.

Would the moderator who did please explain how that post broke the rules of the board so that I can ensure I do not fall foul of it again.

If we,re going to move forward then we need some transparency. The post in question is there now for all to see, I still don,t believe it is offensive and cannot see how it broke the rules of the board so why does nobody have the courage of their convictions and explain their reason for deleting it.

I have gone through the long list of moderators and six of them have ruled themselves out, looking closely at the others I think I have a pretty good idea of who it may be, my opinion of course, and if I am correct in my assumption then I do believe it was deleted for the wrong reason, and in the absence of any clarification will continue to do so.

If the post in question, and the following deleted threads, had been half as offensive as some on this board then I would accept the decision but this smacks of selective moderation.

Becks - couldn't agree more! I take your point about someone ordering a meal on here - I read it, complete with 2-way "conversations" about how many would be coming for the meal in question, along the lines of "there will be three of us" reply "OK SEE YOU THEN" followed by "No, there will be four of us now" followed by etc. etc. I think Lilli did take the points made on board, though, and she has refrained recently from posting excessively.

Hattikins, the problem as I see it is those that are complaining about visibility of Mods should look on their own doorstep first. I am sure the best way to deal with the moderation of post's is to e-mail those concerned. But unfortunately a lot of members have decided not post an e-mail address and unless I have missed something I cannot see a PM facility on this board. I for one do not believe in posting in public the reasons for editing a members posting. That only indulges the hardcore of members that think that they can do it better. And that has been proven to me over the last few days.

I still cannot believe that these 'Mod' postings are still making it to the top of the pile.

For the record I was one that originally opted to keep my Mod status hidden and I have made my reasons clear to various people. However the reason I decided (and against my better judgement) to rescind that decision was because I wanted to put a stop to the 'Witchhunt' that was being carried out by other

This Moderation thing is going round and round. I'm sure there are some people who would like a situation where we have Moderators moderating the Moderators!

Why doesn't everyone become a Moderator and moderate their own posts before posting. That way we'll not have to worry about the Moderators moderating any of our posts.

It seems to me that there's a hidden agenda to take this forum down.

I can see where you are coming from and certainly do not envy your task in trying to moderate this board.

I chose to keep my email private and in the light of recent events on this board I,m glad I did otherwise the filth would have been coming through thick and fast. I,m sure that Izzet has the emails of members and perhaps the moderators should have access to them if needed in the absence of a PM facility.

The fact remains that there have been and still are extremely offensive and personal posts on this board, I do not believe that my post was either of those, it was tongue in cheek, if close to the bone. I did not make any remarks about the quality of the restaurant or the owners, though plenty have, I have no idea why the post was deleted, simple as that, tell me what I did wrong and I,ll take it on board, the same goes for the following threads that were removed for asking just that question, just some explanation is all thats needed. This is not a witchhunt against anyone.

Yep I purchased some dried Porchini mushrooms, twice in fact. They are great for stuffing steaks prior to barbecuing. But I have not had a meal there. I prefer, as a lot of people probably know by now, traditional CT/T cuisine.

I hate talking about food, it makes me feel hungry.

As it emerges who the moderators are I think I can know se the logic behind who has been chosen. Some I agree with & some I don't, but that is in fact a good thing, I believe this should give the board a balance. If we all got the moderators we wanted we would find ourselves on many different boards & not this one, our one.

I don,t think we can expect the moderators to keep everyone happy, we all have different opinions on issues, but I do think we should be able to expect them to be even handed and not favour one set of views over another. I feel they at least give some sort of explanation for their actions, or lack of it in some cases, unless of course the breach of forum rules are clearly obvious.

A couple of suggestions for mods.



If a post is deleted cannot a comment to that effect be made where the post was originally. It is OK if you delete a word or add a comment to a post. However there is often a delay between post and deletion and people have refered to that post. So that when you go looking for reference - ZILCH!!



Second is a question. Will you as a group communicate to devise a unified policy as to what is and isn't acceptable? Not necessarily for members but so that a persons individual bias does not take over a decision to delete or otherwise modify a post or thread.

cis - I personally think your suggestion regarding putting a comment where a deleted post should be is a good one, and I would do so if I felt a whole post needed deleting - as you say it can be very confusing after a delay when people are referring to something which is no longer there.

I know you have posted some info on theme nights and as one who is against mass advertising one offs are no problem.



I have stated on another thread that perhaps it is best if a thread is started in support or against an establishment it is more appropriate to add to that thread rather than keep creating new ones.



I know many people personally, as do you, who post on this forum because the community here is small, therefore overlap of comments etc is enevitable. I do not remember the post you are refering to but given what you say it must be inappropriate as you are not a shrinking violet type from what I have heard and will speak the truth on such matters.



So, keep up the good work, keep posting one off events so those that are interested do not miss them. Most of all continued succes with the business.

I am sick of reading about Guido's. Please customers, owners and moderators give it a rest. There is more to life than this. Noe accusations about moderators deleting posts with adverse comments on the place.

I want all posts good and bad deleted.



I will use caps as the lovely Lilli does.

It wasnt me either and to be honest I think if anything got out of hand and I felt a message needed deleting I would speak to Izzet first to get his opinion. I would be very reluctant to delete anything....unless of course I had a senior moment and pressed delete by mistake!

I agree with puppylover, this thread, and every other thread about the moderators has now run it's course. It's totally pointless to keep bringing up the same old questions - let's all move on and get back to where were.
