I had same problem yesterday, got them back by adding the channels as follows:

Freq 12422 Horiz 27500 2/3

Gets me all the regional Channel 5s, 5USA, 5USA+1, 5*, 5*+1

Let us know how you get on Geena.

Hi All,

Thanks for your above comments. Have tried both sets of frequencies and unfortunately without any success. Just spoke to Acip and he has said that the 'footprint' has changed and that we can now only receive channel 5 via an HD Box on a 1.8 metre dish! Anyone selling an HD Box? Please email me on georginahayatlar@gmail.com

The "free to view / sky card versions" of Channel five group of channels recently changed frequency from 12442 h to 10965 h 22 5/6 - and sky boxes are now looking at this new frequency - hence why you may have lost them

However, this is on the Astra 1n satellite, that has joined the Astra 2 satellites at 28 east for UK TV.

Unfortunately, Astra 1N has beams that are much harder to receive in many extreme reception areas than the Astra 2 beams, where the "fives" used to reside. So where are you used to be able to get them on a 1.8m dish, you may only be able to get them on the much bigger 4m dishes (but i csannopt confirm that)

Expect those on 12442h to be closed down shortly..so using those is a short solution.

C5 HD is not affected (yet).

And this may well affect soon the ITVs that are also encypted.

Huge thread on this at http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/astra-28-2e-astra-1n-astra-2d-fringe-reception-technical-discussion/195064-astra-1n-tests-latest-chat.html

Re Msg 10: Yes, I am using them.

I have a Thomson HD box by the way.

Channel 5 HD was not affected (Ch 171).

Re Msg 12:Thanks for that info. Noted.

We have been using short term solutions ever since 2003 for SKY reception!

it just says Sky HD - it was the one supplied by Sky last October when my sister had it installed in the UK. She had 2 boxes installed and brought one here for me.

Ch5 group has now gone unless you have a 4.2m or bigger dish.

Ch5 HD (Channel 171 on SKY) is still OK.

You cannot. I understand that the Ch5 group are now on a new satellite, 1N, which has a tight spot beam onto UK. Not receivable in Cyprus on any size dish.
