Hi all,

On Monday I decided to move and start a new life in TRNC. My house sold within 2 days of being on the market and I have booked a flight out on Thursday to look at property. As you can imagine my head is spinning and my heart is pumping everything has happened so quickly! I am after any advice on buying new property ie should I rent for a while and check out the market before I buy or just jump straight in. I am scared of being ripped off as I will be moving on my own apart from my 2 dogs who will also move with me.

Any advice would be very welcome

Thanks all

Izzet

Hi Izzet,

I like the look of Lapta and Alsancak but I will have more of an idea when I visit next week. I want somewhere that has a community feel to it and is close to all amenities.

Are there many properties to rent where my dogs would be allowed too?

WOW Good luck to you. Very brave. My advice would be rent , take your time, I have a place in Esentepe by the golf course. Bit lonely at the moment, which I like, have to travel for shops etc, so might not suit you, hire a car and travel round. If you find a place, ask questions, questions and more questions. Good luck to you and your new life.

Agree with Izzet rent for 6 month or longer, have a good look round.

Seems to be good selection of property to rent. I would consider a re-sale

all the problems should have been solved.

Wish you well with your move.

Wow, so brave of you Shona1, I wish you all the luck in the world.

The advice you've been given about renting first is very sound, you can take your time and find out more about which area you want to settle.

Keep us informed how you get on as I'd love to follow your story.

We're considering doing the same next September when my hubby takes early retirement. Coincidentally we live but a stone's throw from you in Colchester, how wierd's that?

Loads of luck

Hi All,

Thankyou all so very much for your wishes of good luck, after a hectic week I think everything hit me slap bang in the face today and I started to think am I doing the right thing? But after reading all your comments I have renewed confidence so I bless you all.

I will let you know how I get on with looking at properties next week.

Eager...I would be very happy to share all information with you and yes we could look around together. I will be taking lots of photos so maybe I could send you copies?

Yes, absolutely, rent before you buy! Best way by far to find out what areas suit you best. Let us know how you get on during your first trip here - why not write a blog on it if you have some time? With pics? (We love a good blog here at Cyprus 44!)

Hi Mark,

that would be really useful if you could forward their details please.

What estate agents did you buy your penthouse from? What soliciors are you using? Did you find the process easy? Are you as scared as me about moving on your own? Sorry questions, questions and more questions.....

If you go on to http://northcypruspropertyadvisory.com/ this is who I went through, wendy will take the time to sit down with you and get to know what you are after etc, she is not your typical sales agent as she is very down to earth and works independtly.

also check out this site http://www.aboutnorthcyprus.com/ this is a very good site and was very helpfull.

Hopethis helps
