It will most likely be one of the much traveled non achieving managers on the "no club" circuit at the moment it happens all the time, same names mentioned for each job. Grow some nuts and go for a young manager with some passion and ability to play better football.

I am sorry to see Steve Bruce be sacked as he is passionate about Sunderland. Yes he has his faults and he has to carry the can, I do think it is premature though. Whose next, forget Shearer, a steady old hand is required for a big club as Sunderland, I hope they do not go Foreign and would like to see Peter Reid as acaretaker but not on a megabucks cointract so he has to work at it.

It seems to me that this is just another one in the long list of ex Man U players who became managers and have found out that they were in the real world of cut and thrust and that only Ferguson has been allowed to manipulate everything and get favourable treatment in every aspect of football administration notwithstanding that he must be the most ignorant Knight of the Realm ever.

"notwithstanding that he must be the most ignorant Knight of the Realm ever" Oh I'm sure history can supply an ample sample of sublime ignorance.... Just think of all those ex-commons pigs with noses in troughs who've been given honours, some even made Life Peers for Christ's sake....

Message 11...why, paddywack? Because it's a BEAUTIFUL GAME! It’s been played for well over a hundred years, and the round-ball game, soccer to some, football to most, can, in my opinion, indeed be a beautiful spectacle. The impressive stamina of the players who never stop running, the bewildering foot skills of the midfielders, the power of the strikers who seem capable of blasting the ball through the back of the net, the inch-perfect fifty-yard passes across the field that are trapped with nonchalant ease – all these adroit skills on display week in, week out, coupled with the placings and tactics of the experienced managers, are indeed a testament to the beauty of this game. It’s my contention, however, that the modern game has evolved into something closely approaching farce. It seems to have become a game of cheats, where the team with the most number of successful fakers will end up with the most free kicks and the most penalties, and will usually win the game.

It’s my contention, however, that the modern game has evolved into something closely approaching farce. It seems to have become a game of cheats, where the team with the most number of successful fakers will end up with the most free kicks and the most penalties, and will usually win the game. The modern game seems to require players, when brushed by an opposing player, to go to ground as though drilled through the head with a 7.62 round from a Dragunov sniper rifle, diving through the air as though aiming for a ten, rolling over and over and beating the ground with hands and feet to illustrate the mortal agony the broken bones are causing. This usually results in a free kick and a stoppage in play while the bone is set in a cast and pain-killing injections may be given to allow the brave soul to continue playing. If the diver, however, hasn’t managed to convince the referee that he was cruelly infringed, he is left in an embarrassing heap on the ground while play continues downfield.

The class and skill employed by all these divers is also beautiful to behold, for it seems that many of them train assiduously to perfect the scream of agony, the diving collapse and the performance once the ground has been hit. Italy seems to have taken these techniques to altogether new levels. Such a development in the skills of staging, including for goal/corner kicks, who should be awarded the throw-ins, and the massive accentuation of the effects of various nudges and bumps in the penalty area seems to have bypassed both codes of international rugby, as well as American and Australian football, although it could be said that American footballers have resorted instead to playing in armour that would not be disgraced on a grunt serving in Afghanistan.

However, if any of the players of these other football codes were to crash screaming to the ground after being nudged – one can’t in all good conscience use the word ‘hit’ – they’d be laughed off the field and would never play another game. A couple of other relatively recent facets of the beautiful game I find endearing are the dignified and understated way in which goalscoring is celebrated with group lovemaking, and the quite justified gang tackle pack rape of the referee by a group of the players against whose team he has just so callously and unfairly awarded a penalty. A beautiful game? More like a crying shame.

At last we have an owner at SAFC that has some balls, and got rid of another usless Jawdee manager, another one in a long line of failed Jawdee managers at that, the rumour is now Martin O'Niel, at least with him it will be more Churchill than Mrs Doubtfire on derby days, and under Martin O'Neil the deluded Jawdee hoards will get the thrashing they richly deserve, oh how their attitude has changed since the whole country was laughing at their relegation not so long ago, I've no doubt the deluded skunks will be talking of champions league football again seeing as how they describe themselves as the Barcelona of the north

Not surprised that he's got the sack. If Sunderland were relegated at the end of this season, my guess is that he would have bankrupted them just like he'e wondrous purchases put Huddersfield Town into receivership over a decade ago. Seems a nice chap but is not cut out to be a manager.

AGENT BRUCE, AGENT BRUCE, Your cover has now been blown. Your Black Ops mission is now over. Abandon shell suit, gold sovreign ring and staffy bull terrier immediately. It is now okay to eat salad and fresh vegetables without a kebab next to them. Hand yourself in to friendly forces on Tyneside where you will be cared for. This Geordie Nation owes you so much. Two months R&R following delousing and debrief.

Message 43......... It just shows how desperate Wigan were for a manager !! They even asked him to come back !!! Unfortunately for Steve Bruce he was forced to sell Darren Bent, for good money to balance the books . Maybe the accountant should also be sacked !! As for the new manager........Roy Keane ..?? Another ex United player that THINKS he can manage after playing for Sir Alex !!
