Thanks Cyprusquest, have emailed Tom.

Chrisieh1, thank you for letting me know but the one you mentioned is too small.

I need minimum 90 x 60 x 25cm travel crates.

Thanks Blade, a trip may be required just thought someone might be wanting to clear space and get rid of theirs!

They are expensive, i just purchased one from Malev airlines to import a dog, super size but 160 euros! The trouble is those of us who may travel at a later date tend to keep hold of them.

I will see if i can find the link to the place in the south i know. If not and your stuck i know of a vet who sells them in the south.

I also saw some in a pet shop in Girne, from the main roundabout, over the next , as if your going to Karakum, on the right hand side. They were small ish but looked good quality, expensive but they may be worth a look.?

Strange size crates ? Atlas 60 box 91 x 61 x 67 or Atlas 70 box 101 x 69 x 78 sounds more like what you need.

Very hard to find here, Green Garden near The Ship hotel may have 60's in stock, price appx 650-700tl.

Cockatoo Pet Shop just over the border, on road from border to Coca-Cola factory, have them. An Atlas 70 was 250€ a few months ago.

Doubt if Tom can help as the dogs he arranges flights for to here all come in very heavy wooden crates, he'll probably just put you in touch with me!

Good luck and don't forget that even plastic boxes weight between 12-16 kgs!!

Right thanks peeps that gives me lots to get on with. Blade, if you could find the numbers I would be most grateful

Having another look around today. All we have found so far have just been a touch too small but we are determined to take our once street dogs with us where ever we go now they are our beloved pets. Just a secondhand carrier would help costs of traveling with two large dogs. Heyho we'll keep looking.

Thanks again for all your suggestions and help.

00357 99418871 is the vet who sells them for a reasonable price in the south. The sugery is close to the large orphanides, on the main road to the right hand side.

I will try and find the other details for you as well.

Nigel, how soon are you hoping to leave and to what destination?

Leaving legally by flying out of Ercan only gives limited options - Turkish Airlines or Corendon.

Corendon to Brussels or Amsterdam will only carry one dog per flight.

Turkish have been known to take 2 large dogs on routes into Europe but only in the summer months when their larger aircraft are scheduled, but you can't count on that as they keep changing policy.

As to destination, no approved carrier has yet been licenced to fly from here into the UK.

Currently dogs going into Europe on Turkish can go as escorted excess baggage, but if Turkish do get a licence for UK they might have to travel there as manifest cargo - this will be very expensive as it is two separate flights with 2 airway bills which means using a handling agent in Istanbul.

If you are going to Uk have you talked to KAR about the overland transporter (no boxes needed)

Overland transport? Legal?? There is not legal approved route from the TRNC to the UK.

Turkish airlines are also very fussy about what breeds they will and won't fly. Dobbies and Staffies are on their list of no flys.

Thanks IngridL but we caved and purchased some from the south as we were running out of time to get them (the dogs) accustomed to their travel homes. Hopefully someone will benefit from them.

Thank you so much Blade for the contact, we bought the carriers from the pet shop just further down the road from Metro Strovolos on the south and they were the nicest and most helpful people. Thoroughly recommended and reasonable too.

The dogs pointers will be flying into mainland Europe not the Uk. Thanks everyone for your help and seasons greeting to all.

Whataview

Could you give us an indication of how much the carriers cost in the South as I am sure that there are many people who would benefit from the information.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Sure, sorry forgot to add had meant to. They were 160 euros. Not cheap but about the same price as pet stores in UK for the same size.

They are big enough for the dogs to sit with space above their heads and basically we have hardly been able to get them out of them!

Hope that helps people to take their beloved pets with them.
