If there is a word which makes me cringe it is "crimbo" The first time I ever heard it was from my grandaughter who was about 8 at the time. She has never used it again in front of me as I gave her a good "English appreciation lesson!"

For God's sake the word is Christmas or is it too hard for you to spell!

Actually should have added, a lot of people go to a great deal of effort to bring entertainment evenings for other people's enjoyment, consider that the next time you decide to make a trivial complaint.

Perhaps you need a lesson in how to use this very reactive form of media. Think before you type.

Personal attacks regarding an individual's use of grammer, and I quote "For God's sake the word is Christmas or is it too hard for you to spell!" is not the best way to enlighten someone.

However I do appreciate that your comments are continuing to keep this message at the top of the board . . .

"Chrimbo" defined in the Oxford dictionary as a British informal noun relating to Christmas.

If it's good enough for the Oxford dictionary it is certainly good enough for use on this forum.

Crimbo is a slang term that started in the innercity New York and Chicago in around 1930's, its a variant of the word Crimble whis is a nick name also given to the holiday time because of Chris Cringle aka Santa Claus. Some modern music uses Crimbo sometimes in the lyrics when singing about the Holiday season as well.

Christmas in itself is an abreviation of the origional Crīstesmęsse
