Hi, I hope I am not being stupid but are these for fitting to the switch to heat the water. If so I would love to have one fitted. I am in UK now but if I email the management team at Sea Terra Reserve to let you in will that be ok.

I used one of these timers myself and they are very useful but they have one drawback. In the "off" position they switch off the "Live" only and the "Neutral" remain connected. This is no problem until the heating element develops a fault to earth and will thus triff off the RCD even when your heater is in the "off" position. So if this happens at night, you will be without electricity until somebody comes and fixes the fault.

With normal heater switches both Live and neutral are disconnected and thus once switched off you can have your electricity back on.

Just bear this in mind and do not panic, nothing serious apart from a worn out heating element.

In the UK, might not be a best price but is a typical one I think ? 44.10 pounds just for the unit. So 45 here in the TRNC delivered and fitted seems pretty good to me ? Or am I missing something ?

I was talking about the ones available locally. It is easy enough to check it to see if the Neutral and the Live are disconnected during the "off" cycle. If you have a simple multitester or a continuity tester you can find it out quite easily.

It is not a case of a mistake or fault but a design criteria. For example all my electrical sockets in the house are of Delta Brand because they disconnect both the live and the neutral in the off position. Most other British brands disconnect only the live. So it is not a matter of country of origin but a matter of design: some prefer it one way, some the other way. In UK, the neutral can stay connected without any problem but in Cyprus it can cause problems because our neutral is not multiple earthed. In UK the neutral is earthed every few poles. So in Cyprus the neutral may carry a couple of volts which may be sufficient to trip an RCD if there is a leakage to earth.

Racoon

Are they the ones with the push button 30- 60- 90 mins? or like a central heating timer.

If the first, I will trade you one for doing your CV if you still need it done.
