Today about 11am I drove home to find my Cyprus Terrier lying by the neighbours gate..He is blind in one eye from a trauma in youth, and we found him on a rubbish tip 3 years ago, his name is "Papi"..There was blood in his mouth and an obvious broken leg, we took him immediately to Sibel, she confirmed the leg fracture , broken shoulder blade smashed teeth and punctured lung.we had to have him put down..We came home and inspected the scene of the incident, blood on the "PAVEMENT" and fresh "Trail bike" tire marks which left the road ,mounted the pavement and just after the scene returned to the road........Whoever you are ,and you know who you are,you are now ,in my eyes a murderer..!!

I cannot believe what I am reading.

What a sick world we live in when someone can do that to a poor defenceless animal. Words fail me.

Rob, so sorry for your loss.

RIP Papi. x

We don't know each other, but I am sincerely sad to read your posting...

My daughter's pup was poisoned in Girne - these pets are our family, and the trauma of losing 'family' due to any cause other than ailment or old age, is heartbreaking...

So sorry for you

Thank you all for your kind words. He was so sweet natured and had put up with much misery until we found him. he was so easily pleased and grateful for everything. We miss him so much. Good thing that there are good people like you and us to help these poor defenceless creatures.

MartinD41, I am so sorry to hear the news about your dog, we too have a Cyprus Terrier that we rescued as a puppy 4 years ago so I can imagine how you must have felt when you found him like that. What is wrong with these people.

Im so sos sorry for you both.. same thing happened to my little cat Aslan,, we found him two doors down from our house, knocked over and left to die.. he was dead when we found him.. My husband buried him like you have done for little Papi.. I hope your wife gets a little beter as time goes on.. take care ... Diane x

What a horrific end to this poor little dog's life. They learn to trust us humans and then some sub-human causes shocking suffering and finally death. I will never understand how someone could do such a dreadful thing.

I have always said and I will say it again, a civilised society is judged by the way it treats it's vulnerable and it's animals. This place fails on both counts. Animal's lives here appear to have absolutely no value.

I am so sorry for you and hope that eventually you will both recover from this trauma.

I was feeling really quite happy until I started to read this thread. I just rushed out and gave my lot a huge hug and am back again. What can anyone say about such brutal behaviour. As someone said earlier a country should be judged by how it treats it's sick, it's elderly and it's animals and the TRNC is fast sliding down to the bottom of the heap on all three counts. My thoughts are with you and of course with little Papi.

I too have a Cyprus Terrier (l5 years old now) and they are lovely dogs , but along with my other two she is now confined to a fenced garden as, apart from poison risk , the roads are just too busy these days to be safe for dogs. .

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you will find some comfort in the fact that she had three happy years of comfortable life which she might not have enjoyed but for you.

But I do hope this tragedy will not be used as for another bout of attacks on our hosts. Cruelty to animals is not confined to one race and many Cypriots are extremely kind both to animal and humans. It is so unfair to tar them all with the same brush.

I very much doubt that the Police is the Uk would spend much time over the death of an animal with - apparently - no witnesses and no registration number or description to help them identify the culprits or (even with modern advances in forensic science) been able to bring a case on the basis of tire prints alone.

I agree with Bizzilizzi - I live in rural France. When I moved here I soon realised the dangers of lettting my pets run around. Farm machinary, quad bikes, motocross, hunters who regulalrly shoot cats and dogs. So they stay where I can keep them safe in my garden - fenced in.

I havve losss a pet and its awful. Buit the police response would be no better in the UK or France

Phil I agree with your sentiments but there are good people and bad people everywhere

Bizzilizzi... At no time in post one do a suggest the nationality of the Trail Bike rider, just the fact that they Must Know who and what they are...The little Dog was critically wounded on the "Pavement" in a quiet road which goes down to HZ OMER tubesi..

There were 4 puppies dumped on our road 2 nights ago by some rotten b*****d. We took them in for the night but already have 4 dogs so took them to KAR the following morning. How can people do this?? They just dont care.

No I wouldn't Peter. Children are precious human lives. Animals are not. Animals are there for man to work and eat. Also they play an important role in modern life in drug testing for the preservation of human life.

"moron! knob! bigger knob !! insensitive and unkind"

No just a differing opinion.

Presumable that’s allowed on this site. A different prospective maybe? Or is it ‘we don’t want to hear this. Close the thread. ‘

No rules are being broken on my part. However that is not the case in the stance of some of the hug a puppy brigade

Reason: Not specified. to continue with this thread would be cruel . It's ok to have differing opinions , but to be so insensitive to a persons feelings is unkind , he and his family lost a beloved pet ......... Simbas
