You have 2 days to get yourself censored, otherwise you may have problems leaving the country.

The office where you get your form filled in is right next door to the hospital in Kyrenia........just after it as you head towards the Lefkosa roundabout.

Please spread the word.

Thanks for the warning. I am all right Jack, but I would hate others to be in trouble.; I know of people who sat at home patiently waiting and no one came. Why should they be punished! But better safe than sorry, so hope that folk readthis. But why oh why is this information not on the news, on a poster, in the newspapers (or is it in the Turkish dailies???)

Message 5, Metin. They may well know most things, but they need at least 2 years to realise they know!

This sounds like a better option for those living in the "Lapta" villages http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/80833.asp

I am sure this post is about census and being 'censussed' and not really about censorship, but one can never be sure...

I assume one goes to the Kaymakan in Kyrenia. But I am wondering how they know you as they took no note of passport numbers etc. In fact I wish I had said my parents were Turkish Cypriots - it might have helped their numbers. I understood this was to ascertain the number of Turkish Cypriots on the island, so how my giving information on the number of computers and toilets and showers I have has anything to do with such statistics.

And why are not the houses which were not visited, now visited with a note telling the people where to go (to fill in the forms, not to tell them' where to go' in the other sense!).

find it hard to believe, that if not censused, would cause a problem at port of exit. I went to the south today...no mention of whether i had been censused.... more scare mongering. Not our job to 'make sure we were accounted for', a majority of people WHO were censused, not asked for identification, so how would the the authorities know?

No passport or other documentation required. Job done.
