There's been one advertised in Cyprus Today, he was doing a Christmas deal for 80TL, but might be a bit more now.

Thanks Cool Blue. Came today and swept the chimney for us and the fire is working great now. No mess and which surprised us as not an easy job for them to do but they did it. A big thank you for a great job done. Would definitely recommend them to others.

Thanks again.

Possibly a silly question but do wood burners need to be cleaned as often as open fires?

If u burn wood only......no...set the fire on bed of ash...in effect don't clean it....the lower tray will need periodic cleaning...I clean mine every 2 to3 weeks....burning wood on bed of ash is more effective.....it is important to ensure your wood is dry...20pcent moisture is recommended......also clean glass with vinegar and paper use small amount of wood ash to get rid of stubborn stains....oh and don't shut it off last thing....this will cause deposits on window....

laptagal, A chimney should be swept at least once a year. Its not really the fire place that is the issue, its the chimney breast and the flew(spelling?) which are more important. Knowing the way things can often get built in the TRNC, I would worry a bit as to what is in places we can not see, ie, a chimney breast!!!
