| @ msg 1, Groucho: (...) 5 years ago Johnny Cash died (...) Groucho, my favourite American C&W singer Johnny Cash died September 12, 2003, aged 71 - more than 8 years ago. | O.K. so Bob Hope died on 27th July 2003, which means it is not ten years, but this is a joke! Not a history lesson. the years don't matter, but the punch line does. thanks Groucho (actually have seen it before, but it is still good!) as for bob Hope,, he is a south Londoner as I am, and if I clock up 100 wonderful years as he did, I will be very grateful, and if anyone can be encouraged from my life (which is doubtful) , I won't give a fig if they get the years I have been dead wrong -and in any case, I may well lie about my age even in death. In fact, Bob Hope may have been 102 when he died! None of that changes the fact that I like the punch line - let's just hope that another Mr Fix It comes along - we need him/her/it! |

| Come on Hans, you can do better than that, Gav's punctuation and use of capitals is also incorrect. |

| I laughed at msg 1, which I presume was Groucho's intention. Sadly the next 8 messages seemed to miss the point. Good effort Groucho, although you probably wasted your time. |

| After some seven years 'corresponding' on bulletin boards with Groucho I'm almost sure that he has read my post (# 2) in the right context. However, in the worst case it's only a matter of clashing senses of British*/Dutch humour. There are more important things to worry and write about, people..! * Some 60 million Brits may think their sense of humour is outstanding, but about seven billion people do not always agree or understand. |
