Tempo sell at 6YTL can't remember what the odds were. If you do buy a jar, add some chopped nuts, (almonds, walnuts) some chopped cherries and 2tbsp brandy. This takes away the sweet taste and gives a nice flavour and texture to the mince.

To 'Turbo' your mince pies, don't add the Brandy before cooking/warming. When they're warm, use a kitchen syringe or eye dropper to add 1/2 teaspoon of brandy! Phwoarrr! Another Christmas favourite is Christmas pudding Ice Cream. Cook a small Christmas pudding, leave to cool in a fridge overnight. Chop up and mix into a tub of soft scoop Ice Cream, with some extra brandy if you like. Put back in the freezer as quickly as possible. MMM!

Yorkie, does it have to be decent brandy or will good ol' antique be ok? Also, any alternatives to nuts and cherries as I don't like either?

hi susief,if you dont like nuts or cherries, you could try chopped up stoned dates and apricots, but go easy with the brandy as you dont want to get stoned as well.
