I don't know about you but quite a few people in Girne this year have stopped and asked me if I am "Ismet" or "Elko2" or simply "Elko". I suppose people recognize me from my picture on C44. I must say they often add "Most helpful member" which really flatters me.

I must go to Girne more often because nobody ever asked me the same question in Famagusta

Yep, vanity aint good but positive feedback is very helpful and necessary for knowing how effective we are. Well Done Elko and thanks for your very informative postings. PS I did recognise you outside the Girne Courts in May this year but couldn't remember your name. Shame on me!

Does everyone in the TRNC frequent the Girne Courts, or just you Elko

I think most arrive there, at some time in their TRNC lives!!

I agree with johnerebus Thank You for your honest & informative posts! (although you have been quiet of late)

TRNC Victim,

I have speeding camera cases one at Lefke Court, one in Guzelyurt court and two at Famagusta court and no more (That's all ). However I can be seen quite often at Girne and Nicosia courts too. I enjoy being available for one thing or other but I have a tight mouth

ismet

PS: thanks to everyone for their kind words, all appreciated.

As the majority of posters do not have an image displayed, the whole point of Izzet insisting on genuine poster pictures only under the impression that this would somehow building a 'sense of community' has failed.... can we not do away with this requirement. I used to love the old avatars folk chose...

Several of those displayed currently are not genuine and never were....

Many send pictures for months and never get theirs uploaded, get fed up trying and give up.

So lovely as your picture is Ismet it's all a bit lopsided..

mssg 12, Jwheeler&sons,

I have a terrible memory but I am really curious about my old Manchurian friend. Is it a he or a she? Please don't keep me in suspense.

msg. 13, Hippo,

I am still trying to figure out what happened to your nose

msg. 14, Yorg,

A hint? Now you got me thinking, a hint for what, any suggestions?

msg 15, Groucho,

I agree with Izzet about genuine pictures but if only we moderators had the capability to load up the members pictures promptly.

Strange thing is TRNC victim, I visit the Girne Court so often all the Advocates and Judges recognise me, especially with my notepad and pencil in hand yet I have never run into Ismet. Perhaps he hides when he sees me! I do know Ismet and it is a privilege and a pleasure to do so. Ismet stood with us and led the Silent Peaceful Candlelit Vigil and for that I consider him a true hero.

msg. 17, Polly,

"a true hero"? Nah, I enjoyed it thoroughly and specially the telephone conversations I had with the police leading up to the protest was hilarious.

Police: So you will make the protest and the foreigners will be there to observe?

Ismet: Yes, exactly that.

Police: In Turkish "Yemezler" literally translated "we are not eating it" which meant "who are you kidding"

Ismet: In turkish "Yeyen yesin, yemeyen yemesin" literally "if you eat you eat, if you don't eat you don't eat" meaning take it as you like.

I heard a big laughter in the background and I could recognise the voice of Mrs. Gurler, Chief of Police.

It was obvious that they could not frighten me with such tactics and they already knew that I was not afraid of going to court. Her husband was a retired judge and a personal friend, so she knew who I was.
