Some cars are obviously on plates older than the vehicle. Is there a mechanism for this or is it a backhander job in some back office?

I am fairly sure that you can buy a personal plate in NC, not sure of the cost but I think it is an annual one rather than the one-off that we have in the UK. There are certainly enough cars going round with what can only be personalised plates that it must be something that anyone can do.

You can buy a number plate but it is expensive, then every year i believe you pay extra for the registration. Its not like the uk where you buy it once. We looked at it when we first came here but it was expensive and costly to maintain.



If you don't tax your car for two years i was told you would loose your reg and have to buy another. That got me to thinking when you buy the new one is it a later current reg or an older one?

I too looked into this when I first came over 2005, there is virtually No limit as to what letters, words or Numbers that you display BUT the Annual cost is 1200TL
