On the one hand you have members like me who will answer any constructive criticism and absolutely ignore any insults, on the other hand we have the type who goes out of his way to be rude to almost everyone and will not let even a single insult pass bye without a retort. No need to mention any names but I am sure the regular members will have no difficulty in spotting the person in question. My question is this: according to you is it a sign of weakness or strength to ignore such insults? What is your take on this? ismet

Ismet, It is a sign of strength being able to ignore the insults and criticism on here, and one I am sadly lacking at times. Constructive criticism is welcome as we can always learn from it but a lot of the time it is just mischief making and badness! Chris

Sometimes people can't ignore the insults when they are continually aimed at them. Why should you let the person get away with it? Not mentioning any names!

People insulting other people on public forums are just looking for a fight. In digital sense, this means a response indicating that you care about what they say(they feel they are right when they make you uncomfortable), or respond to them so the subject escalates and they can further insult you. You ignore them and you automatically win... K.

Keep ignoring them and hopefully they will go away!! Yes not getting drawn into the swopping of insults is definitely a sign of strength.

Ismet I suspect these people who are always rather aggresive and rude are very unhappy people with huge chips on their shoulders. A response gives them the attention that they crave. Best to ignore them, and indeed feel sorry for them, for they are lost souls.

Unfortunately there are some members on this board that are unable to enter into intelligent debate without being insulting or using swear words either real or implied. As with some other members there are certain people that take great delight in having a go at me (bless them it must be their hobby). It goes straight over my head. The problem is when you offer the hand of peace and suggest a meet up to discuss their attitudes they just do not want to know and they go quiet. Such is life. AJ

There is imo a third kind of poster, the poster with a covert agenda, be it commercial or political. These are people who seek to infulence the views of others and will use a range of decitful and often down right nasty tatics in the pursuit of pushing their agenda. They have no interest in the forum, real discussion or truth. For them the forum exists solely as a means by which they seek to influence the views and impressions of others that view it to futher their commercial or political agenda. For me these are the least desirable of forum members.

I agree with Erol which I believe is in direct contradiction with Geoff. Most members are valuable to the forum and they all contribute valuable input except for a few bent on troublemaking. ismet

Totally agree with Chris, including that it takes a lot of will power to ignore some. On the other hand, some threads I ignore completely because I am comparatively new on the forum, dont know the people and havent the foggiest idea what they are going on about, except that it sounds unpleasant, which is probably not a way to encourage new - and reasonable - members.

Definately ignore them. Personally I think that they have far too much time on their hands. They hide behind their computer being rude and abusive. They are cowards and bullys who probably too scared to be open and honest in real life. It is like a child having a tantrum, pure attention seeking!! Cyprus 44 can be a very useful and helpful forum but it does have some people like any other forum that try to spoil things. A very wise person used to say to me "before you say anything remember the 7 T's, Take time to think things through thourghly!! Perhaps people should think before acting or reacting.

| I don't respond to insults here or to the petty bickering arguments which are opinions from the opinionated as I prefer to use my valuable time in other ways. I differentiate the petty from the valuable opinions. but this is only my opinion. People always do the best they can with the resources available to them. By resources I mean intellectual, emotional and spiritual. So if insulting is the best they can do this says more about the hurler of insults than the people they chuck insults at. I Wish You Well. | I'm a firm believer that "Empty Vessels make the most sound" and that many posters on this forum answer questions for the sake of seeing their own name on the forum AGAIN and pushing up their reply ratings.! Gerry |

I think the best course is to ignore the negative and rude posters because you know it gets right up their nose when their banging on about something is ignored. I've popped into this forum from time to time to stay in touch, but have never felt like posting anything as, while some of the responses are positive, constructive and helpful, some are also incredibly rude and negative. Beats me how people can live like that. Miserable way to lead your life. it's too short to be so aggro, cheer up and enjoy your time here, helping on the Forum where possible, because you never know when you're going to pop your clogs.

I hate the stalkers who have taken this forum past what it was set up for and used it to bully and stalk posters. In most cases these posters have been banned for their actions, but reinvent them selves as new names so the stalking still carries on. Detestable people in my view.

Pipie, I am aware of your stalkers and you were fantastic by ignoring them completely in a recent thread. Actually I must admit, one of my favourite posters is Yorgozlu. We don't always see eye to eye but he says it as it is. His prime objective is to say it as he sees it without wrapping it up in diplomatic language and if it is rude, so be it but that is not his intention. ismet

I intensely dislike those posters who come on forums like this and tell downright lies about people and companies without fear of being rebuked by the moderators, I also dislike those who twist facts and dodge the debate or not answer when challenged.

I cannot understand why people who tell downright lies and innuendoes are allowed to continue. I though this forum was supposed to be informative and tinged with humour. A great deal of the time it's neither.
