MM, are you asking as a stall holder or a customer?

It is already active from 9am, so many customers are arriving earlier, so for many 4 - 5 hours is already enough. As already said above, for at least 6 months most are pulling up sticks well before 1pm.

I think finishing at 1pm is late enough for most stall holders, as a lot have been their since about 8am setting up, and yes the buyers are coming earlier and earlier. One lady arrived at 8am this morning and wondered where all the stalls were. By 12pm, the market is starting to thin down with buyers, and most people start to pack up about 12.30 to quarter to one. So my opinion is leave it as it is.

There is still a sizeable chunk outside. There are now in excess of 90 stalls most weeks and they will not all fit inside.

Yes Cyprusishome, I agree it is getting bigger and better, but what is your view on the original question, do you agree 1pm is late enough, and are you a stallholder or a customer?

I was actually waiting to see why maggymay was asking the question!!!!!

But as she appears to prefer not to respond for some reason.

Actually the boss is a stall holder I am just the labourer. Her view, it is already long enough being there for 4+ hours and by 12.00 trade slackens in summer or winter.

Plus I think the organisers are there for even more hours and Ian is always ready to go by 1pm.

The thing at Evergreen further along road is open 9-3 on sunday and I think that the same applies, whenever we pass there are very few people there.

Maybe if shoppers knew that it was going to be open for longer they would'nt all rush to be there early, some people with small children just cant get there so I would say give it a chance

As a customer I would prefer it to start and finish later but that is because I am lazy and do not like getting up early! I usually get there as everyone is packing up. Same thing happened at the KAR bazaar yesterday. Must try harder.

I think the stall holders have a better idea of how they spend their time on business. If they thought they would make significantly more money by keeping their stall open to dusk, then i suspect many would be badgering the Chateau Lambousa management to do so.

Pity the organisers who would not finish up until midnight.

Personally, I am not convinced that extending the market hours will generate more business to make it worthwhile?

Errrm,

As the "venue" this is the first I've heard of this!

Will discuss it with Ian. Don't really understand how it could provoke outrage either way but then I haven't yet heard the reasons for and against yet...

I think it would be a good idea as those of us that work cannot get to the market as we finish when the market finishes!!

Well I really wished I hadn't asked the question now, as it was just a feedback question with no motive or anything else just a query.

Merry Christmas to one and all
