Sheff Utd 2-3 Burnley

Burnley followed up their Carling Cup win over Arsenal by giving their promotion hopes a big boost with victory over rivals Sheffield United.



Michael Paterson tapped in to put the Clarets ahead, but James Beattie levelled from the spot after Billy Sharp had been felled by the keeper.



Gary Alexander restored the visitors' lead with a penalty after Chris Eagles went down under Gary Naysmith's foul.



And Eagles curled in the Clarets' third before Stephen Quinn's late reply.



Well done to the mighty clarets. The last time we won there was 1973
