In the new year I want to (self-)publish some illustrated eBooks (history of Medieval Cyprus).

If there is anyone out there who (self-)published one or more eBooks I'd very much appreciate a contact.

Please mail: hansdoeleman@allcrusades.com

Thank you for your attention.

I'd better add that the content is not a problem - I'd like to learn more about technical aspects: format, lay-out etc.

This might be of some use to you Hans although I would just be glad to see less self publication from you on here but considering how good you are at using the internet and its many facilities I think it is fairly obvious you are not seeking advice, just recognition.

@ msg 6, proger1: I found that link myself on Google (with 10.000+ other links) - thank you very much - but I didn't ask for links. I asked a different question in message 1.

The start of your message 6, proger1, is off topic, hence ignored.

Try this for info .....

I'd imagine that actually creating the ebook is easy enough, distributing it might be a bit more complicated!

@ msg 8, AndyR: Indeed, I know, creating an eBook (plain text) is easy enough, but in msg 1 I mentioned an ILLUSTRATED eBook - and that is not easy at all!

Hans,

I would suspect that the PDF format may be the way ahead for what you wish to do.

I have seen some Publishing Software for the net and will try and re-locate it for you.

@ msg 11, walkerscott: Thank you for your reply. But the pdf format is not flexible enough. I'll use software (for Mac, so not on line but on my own hard drive) to import from Word, pdf etc and export when I'm finished to ePub, Kindle and other formats.

I was just wondering if any C44 member had been active in this field so I could learn some things. But it looks like I'm out of luck.

Hans, good luck with your little venture. I'm thinking of publishing a book on Kindle so it will be interesting to see what other posts come up. There is some pretty good stuff on Amazons Kindle self publishing website about how to do it, not gone through it all yet though.

Hans, perhaps it is my understanding of the english language which is at fault, after all you asked for a contact, not for someone to contact you, and as I understand the language, asking for a contact would be exactly what I tried to do when offering you the link to a site which has publishing companies who assist self publishers.

You have however concentrated more on the part where I pointed out my belief of the true meaning of your post, if you had actually ignored my post you would not have answered it.

Perhaps you will just continue to ignore the post as is your god given right or you might actually use the link to your benefit.
