We usually go to the Green Palace in the summer, food is good, very plain but is ok and a lovely setting, bottle of wine cheaper than most places, so we thought Xmas dinner would be lovely. I am afraid it was really disappointing.

We waited ages for our starter and when it came, we did not know what it was. It was prawn coctail, served in so much sauce it was inedible. We then had to wait over an hour for our main course, which was 2 potatoes, some Turkey,(what little we had was nice) a few Carrots, a few Brussel sprouts and a bit of sort of stuffing, a quarter of a teaspoon of Cranberry sauce and very little gravy, a meal fit for an old people's home or a hospital we thought. Another hour's wait for the pudding, Xmas pudding and a half a scoop of ice-cream. The bar was open though and probably did very well as there was a lot of waiting around to do. The atmosphere was not good and many people left before the coffee was served. Also the room was cold. Never again!!

Christmas lunch at the Green Palace was a disaster, one hour wait for starter(prawn cocktail, like a bowl of soup)dinner was very bland and carrots cold,no wonder after one hour wait.you could tell by the expessions on poeples faces they were not impressed. We left without a sweet,as that was another hour.

We were asked why we were leaving, and relpied waiting to long. The reply was did we give you a time schedule, not a very good buisness reply. Will not be going again for christmas lunch,as I should imagine will others.

ricooper123,

Perhaps the Green Palace think it is acceptable to keep customers waiting for over 3 hours for a sub-standard meal. Not only was the meal bad but an arrogant reply like that from the Green Palace ,perhaps may put people off from even going in the summer. Never been so hungry after a Xmas dinner !!

Am glad you have all posted about the Green Palace on christmas day, because we were thinking about going for New Year`s Eve. If it`s a sit down dinner the same as christmas day, it`s obviously out of the question.

Maybe they were too busy getting poor Teresa`s take away together. A lot of these places who struggle when there is only a few customers are out of their depth when it comes to numbers. We went there a couple of weeks ago. It was virtually empty and when the lamb chops arrived they were tough as old boots.

I am surprised that Green palace has nothing to say about these comments.

We went to Green Palace on Christmas day and our table of 7 all enjoyed it very much. We all get on well & enjoy each other’s company so we had no complaints in waiting a bit between courses. It gave us the chance to chat and enjoy the day. For me that’s what Christmas is all about and I would have been disappointed if it had all been served and finished in an hour – we were there for around 3½ hours in total – perfect.

The food was very tasty, especially the beef and turkey which were very tender and juicy. My only complaint would be the lack of Gravy – A jar on the table would have finished it off nicely!

All in all we had a great day – good food, cheap drink and great company.

We did notice one or two people looking unhappy, but then they were sitting there hardly talking to each other. Maybe if they tried to enjoy being with their family and friends a bit more on Christmas day they wouldn't have minded waiting a short while for their food to be served! IMO

Thank you!
