sorry to say this but you are kiddying us ? you ask if you go to hell? you husband thinks he will go to heaven.. Please. open up your eyes/mind. There is no heaven, there is no hell, there is no god, there is no jesus. Its all a big lie. Only people afraight of the reality need such "excuses" and escapes to god etc.. I dont think that it is a bad thing because many people can fight their fear through this but hey: Do you really belive? If here was a god why would he allow all his to happen? why all this wars, stravation? etc...

The God is money and the money is the world bank !-

TC are very open with theır religion, which should have made them more favourable of joining EU than the GCs which are totally blinded by their religious views!

Just to mention a movie, give it a go, try it for 20 min: http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com Go for the zeitgeist movie not zeitgeis addemdum which is the 2nd part. After part 1 you will watch this one aswell..

The sun will explain it to all of you.

Like you neither of my parents are very relegious but I was christened as a baby, God was never a subject our family gave a lot of thought to. What I beieve is important, is that every person no matter what beliefs they hold should try to be a good person and if everyone managed that the world would be a happier place. Also if God does have a say in our after life and he is as good as his believers say he is, then he would be more interested in the fact that we have been a good person rather than the fact that some people haven't been christened.

Nemika, where ever it is that you will be headed to , i will be headed in the same direction.

I have somewhat of a similar background .

I would prefer to be cremated but that is a definite no no in the islam / muslim religion.

I am also into Buddhism so who knows. I may be re-incarnated as one of the small sandflies that bugs everyone..I would like that, the ultimate revenge on those nasty neighbours.

Or there again I may come back as a government employee in TRNC, now thats a life of luxury with early retirement.

Nemika, a strange question. It's like saying, "If there isn't a God will I go to Heaven?"

Either way you'll be going nowhere. Once it's over it's over. Enjoy it while you can. As the old saying goes, "Life's too short"

years ago a neighbour of mine who was a christian asked me why i din't go to church on sundays?

my reply was that going to church on sunday was to repent ones sins.

hence if i have been a good person all week i didn't need to go!

she accepted that.

she did once tell me off for mowing the grass on sunday because it was gods day, a day of rest.

it didn't stop me though.

Nemika dont you worry your little head about nothing ! Just go and see your local church representative , and i am sure he will sort it out for you. You are never to old to be christened ! be it a Muslim or christian or any other religion there is but One God !Who will welcome us all when the time comes. A man arrives at the gates of heaven. St. Peter asks, "Religion?"

The man says, "Methodist."

St. Peter looks down his list, and says, "Go to room 24, but be very quiet as you pass room 8."

Another man arrives at the gates of heaven. "Religion?"

"Baptist."

"Go to room 18, but be very quiet as you pass room 8."

A third man arrives at the gates. "Religion?"

"Jewish."

"Go to room 11, but be very quiet as you pass room 8."

The man says, "I can understand there being different rooms for different religions, but why must I be quiet when I pass room 8?"

St. Peter tells him, "Well the Jehovah's Witnesses are in room 8, and they think they're the only ones here.

Nemika - considering "religion" is the cause of wars all around the world (or at least religion is used as a smoke-screen for war) I shouldn't worry yourself in the least. As a previous poster said, try to be the best person you can whilst you're here. My husband is an atheist, and I always think he's the best example of a "Christian" I've ever known! Having said that, I do appreciate that people draw a lot of strength through religion and respect this.

It seems that Religion is always discussed around Christmas time. Is this the only time of the year that 'Christians' feel the need to talk about religion. Is it a guilt thing?

Nemika,

I have mixed feelings on this one, part of me say no,then i think he might punish me for not believing,so i must believe there is a god, (i think) maybe i am justing playing it safe.

I really believe there is something,i have been tested enough this year

So Rotaciser thinks God will punish those who don't believe in him!

Some God, if he gives us brains to reason with how could anyone be

blamed for facing up to what seems evident? One does not choose to

be atheist, but some of the best folks I have known have not been

Christian, and some have.

Bill, msg 16.

My wife is a Christian and lives and practises her beliefs all year round. So, in her case, the answer to your question is no.

For my part I do believe in God and I also believe that regardless of what other religion you are, God will do the right thing. Depending on how you live your life, of course!

I think I need to get cracking on earning a few more brownies points though!

On the subject of Vicar's

A Lady Vicar wanted to raise money for her Church, and on being told by her Verger that there was a fortune to be made in dog racing, decided to buy a greyhound and enter it in the Town races.

"So where can I get a pedigree racing greyhound?" she asked him.

"At the local dog auction", replied the Verger.

When she got to the auction, the going price for any breed of dog was so high that she ended up buying a cat instead.

"I feel a complete idiot", she told the Verger the next day.

"Why?" he asked. "It's got four legs and a tail, hasn't it?"

"Well - yes..."

"And cats usually outrun dogs, don't they?"

"I suppose so", she replied doubtfully.

"So why not enter it in the races".

"A cat in a dog race?"

"Why not, there's nothing against it in the rules."

"Well..."

"What have you got to lose?"

"Alright - you've convinced me."

So she entered the cat in the next day's race and to her astonishment it came in third. The Verger was so delighted that he told

The Verger was so delighted that he told the story to his mate on the local paper. The paper published the story on an inside page with the headline:

"Local Vicar shows off her pussy"

The Vicar was so pleased with the cat that she entered it in the next race the following week and this time it won. This caused such a sensation in the town that the local paper published a report on the front page that read:

"VICAR'S PUSSY OUT IN FRONT!"

The Bishop was so upset by the publicity the Vicar was getting that he ordered her not to enter the cat in another race. The Verger told the paper. The next issue carried the headline:

"BISHOP SCRATCHES VICAR'S PUSSY"

This was too much for the Bishop. "Get rid of the cat!" he shouted down the telephone to the Vicar. "Or you can start looking for a new vocation!" The Vicar decided to give the cat to the nuns in a nearby convent. But the paper knew when it was on to a good story and the next day the following headline was splashed across the front

Bill & Geoff,

this omnipresence thing is a real burden, but someone has to keep an eye on you!

Re: Religion.

There are apparently about 600 'Gods' worshipped on the planet.

An atheist doesn't believe any of them exist.

An agnostic doesn't believe in any of them personally, but does not deny their possible existence.

A Theist only believes in 1 out of the 600 and denies the existence of the other 599.

So you could say that a Theist is only 1 'God' away from being an atheist!

But the paper knew when it was on to a good story and the next day the following headline was splashed across the front page: "NUNS HAVE BEST PUSSY IN TOWN!"

When he read this the Bishop fainted. An hour later he was on the telephone to the Mother Superior. "Get rid of that damn cat! I don't care what you do with it so long as it's out of my diocese and out of the paper!" So the Mother Superior sold the cat to a farmer in the next town.

Next day the paper read: "NUN SELLS HER PUSSY FOR A TENNER!"

This Bishop had a heart attack. When he came out of hospital three weeks later he ordered the Vicar to buy back the cat and set it free in the local woods where, he added hopefully "The foxes should make short work of the evil little moggie!"

Unfortunately, the cat was caught by poachers who sold it to the local butcher where it was bought by the chef of a Chinese restaurant.

Next day the paper read: "BISHOP EATS VICAR'S PUSSY"

The Bishop was buried the following Wednesday.

Nemika,

All children are born Muslim- in that they have pure faith in one God - and if you change to a different religion/or no religion later it is your choice.

Therefore if you die un-Christened you are not without religion.

If you believe in God and wish to start to follow a religion - then read all you can and make your choice. I did. In the case of Islam - your previous sins are wiped clean and you start anew - as soon as you say Ash'hadu an-la-ilaha ill'Allah, Ash'hadu an'na Muhammad'an-Rasul'Allah, and mean it obviously.

I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. You will have heard the Iman saying this as part of the Athan.

If you do not believe in God, then this is your path and why worry about heaven and hell. If you don't believe than how can you believe they exist.

Either way, try to find peace with yourself and just incase - try to do as many good deeds as you can

Peace and blessings

Far away in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, two prawns were swimming around in the sea - one called Justin and the other called Christian. The prawns were constantly being harassed and threatened by sharks that patrolled the area.

Finally one day Justin said to Christian, "I'm bored and frustrated at being a prawn, I wish I was a shark, then I wouldn't have any worries about being eaten..."

As Justin had his mind firmly on becoming a predator, a mysterious cod appears and says, "Your wish is granted," and lo and behold, Justin turned into a shark.

Horrified, Christian immediately swam away, afraid of being eaten by his old mate.

Time went on and Justin found himself becoming bored and lonely as a shark. All his old mates simply swam away whenever he came close to them. Justin didn't realise that his new menacing appearance was the cause of his sad plight.

While out swimming alone one day he sees the mysterious cod again and can't believe his luck.

Justin figured that the fish could change him back into a prawn. He begs the cod to change him back so, lo and behold,he is turned back into a prawn.

With tears of joy in his tiny little eyes, Justin swam back to his friends and bought them all a cocktail. Looking around the gathering at the reef, he searched for his old pal.

"Where's Christian?" he asked.

"He's at home, distraught that his best friend changed sides to the enemy and became a shark," came the reply.

Eager to put things right again and end the mutual pain and torture, he set off to Christian's house. As he opened the coral gate the memories came flooding back. He banged on the door and shouted, "It's me, Justin, your old friend, come out and see me again."

Christian replied "No way man, you'll eat me. You're a shark, the enemy and I'll not be tricked."

Justin cried back "No, I'm not. That was the old me. I've changed."

"I've found Cod. I'm a prawn again, Christian!"

A guy dies and goes to heaven. It's a slow day for St. Peter, so, upon passing the entrance test, St. Peter says, "I'm not very busy, today, why don't you let me show you around?".

The guy thinks this is a great idea and graciously accepts the offer. St. Peter shows him all the sights, the golf course, the reading room and library, the observation room, the cafeteria and finally, they come to a HUGE room full of clocks.

The guy asks, "What's up with these clocks?"

St. Peter explains, "Everyone on earth has a clock that shows how much time he has left on earth. When a clock runs out of time, the person dies and comes to the Gates to be judged."

The guy thinks this makes sense but notices that some of the clocks are going faster than others. He asks why is that?

St. Peter explains, "Every time a living person tells a lie, it speeds his clock."

This also makes sense, so the guy takes one last look around the room before leaving and notices one clock in the center of the

This also makes sense, so the guy takes one last look around the room before leaving and notices one clock in the center of the ceiling. On this clock, both hands are spinning at an unbelievable rate. So he asks, "What's the story with that clock?"

"Oh, that," St. Peter replies, "That's OJ Simpson's clock. We decided to use it as a fan

I was accosted in the on the high street by "a deciple of Jesus", told him to go away, and he kept banging on, he asked if I believed in God and I didn't answer him, but just like Nemika it made me think. I believe in God but not Religion, and if you live by the ten commandments, don't steal, or run off with your neighbours wife etc.. Then you will live a good life .

Erm, I hope!

Yes Sir, how can I help you?

Have any of your inmates escaped?

No Sir, they are all accounted for. Why do you ask?

Some lunatic has run off with my wife!

Nem,

Each person must make their peace... don't let anyone put you down...

What makes you think organised religion, a single act of religious ceremony or a piece of paper is relevant to any individual's likelihood of reaching a state of grace?

It's what you do in life that matters...

If someone is telling you that they know who is and who is not going to heaven they probably need to seek psychiatric counselling...

You must live your life according to those tennets of good will that you have been brought up to believe in and not some mechanism for the suppression of individual thought created by men to subjugate the masses...

If you read any of the major works of religion you will see that they only fall foul of their ultimate purpose when people start interpreting them for their own agendas...

Oh God, this all very heavy sorry....

Nemika -Religon uses heaven and hell as tools to control the populace. To be able to control the populace they first had to be taught to fear the wrath of God. So religons built churches to teach them. The Christian church ensured you joined their gang by promising Hell for anyone that didn't attend church and get christened there. The threat of Hell if you are not christened is ridiculous if you think about it - that christening involving dabbing a bit of water on the forehead will protect you from the Devil? So you won't go to hell just because a vicar didn't throw water at you. Personally I don't think hell exists, or if it does we are in it now! If you believe that your spirit will live on when you die then you believe in God - someone has to be in charge! Which religon you choose to access God through is your decision - read up on the principles of a variety of religons and choose the one that sounds most plausible to you. Or no religon at all - you can believe in God without one.

I think that all religion is based on fairy tales, preying on the weak and needy. The scientific view of how the world began is much more plausable. A couple of years ago, i believe that there was talk of not teaching religion in schools any more, personally i would like to see this implemented. The world would be a much better place if religion did not exist. A much better way of life is to be a Humanist....not a religion, more a way of life.

Is’nt the humanistic perspective a bit like being self centred given that it’s all about you and your perception of your experiences? Whereas the Religious view is all about others? Or have I misunderstood the Humanist meaning?

Eager.

The way the world began seems pretty plausible but the way the universe began is a different matter. Scientific view has and is changing frequently.

Stephen Hawkins in his great book 'a brief history of time' says at the end

something to the effect that the reason why we are here ''only God knows''. I can't remember the exact words, unfortunately. Hawkin and other scientist are trying to produce the unified theory of the universe and are now in the area of 'string theory'.

Einstein's theory of relativity was the in thing, until Quantum Mechanics came along. I think these are contradictory theories but the view is that they can exist together, I think! Yet to be proved?

Somewhere in my reading I came across the comment that 40% of scientist believe in God or some non scientific intervention along the way.

I can't believe I just wrote that c**p!

When the Jehovah's Witnesses used to knock on my door I used to say I might be interested if they didn't all look so bloody miserable!

Nemika, heaven and hell are states of mind, not places in some afterlife. I suspect there is a divine power that loves us all as we are, and that our spirits may go on in some other form, if not we can look forward to a long dreamless sleep, how bad's that?

NO.1Doyen

Having had a Christian upbringing (baptised in C. of Scot. & confirmed in C. of E!) I seem to recall that mid-way between Heaven & Hell is Purgatory!

Doesn't sound too good either! I remember a Turkish teacher I used to work

with in Istanbul who said she had no interest in heaven as she did not fancy

spending eternity serving MEN, as she had to in this life. Is that what a Moslem

life hereafter is about for women? We did go to the mosques with her (suitably

attired)

I'm not sure that Purgatory is half way between. Purgatory is a stage on the way to heaven.

Perhaps Limbo is half way between.

No, that diesn't seem to be right either:

In Roman Catholic theology, Limbo (Latin limbus, edge or boundary, referring to the "edge" of Hell) is a hypothesis about the afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the damned (gehenna). Limbo is not an official doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church or any other. Medieval theologians described the underworld ("hell", "hades", "infernum") as divided into four distinct underworlds: hell of the damned (which some call gehenna), purgatory, limbo of the fathers, and limbo of infants.

Purgatory, in the original sense, is the condition or process of purification or temporary punishment in which the souls of those who die in a state of grace are made ready for heaven, an idea that has ancient roots and is well-attested in early Christian literature, while the conception of purgatory as a geographically situated place is largely the achievement of medieval Christian piety and imagination.
