| My darling wife has made some pea and ham soup mmmmm yummy but it is a tad to salty does any one know how to make it taste less salty please. |

| Was the ham soaked overnight in cold water to get the salt out. |

| You could try adding potatoes to it. These stock cubes are very salty & I don't add any salt if I use them. Pea & ham is a great soup though. |

| the ham was not soaked over night I boiled it and b4 i could do owt she had saved the juice and steeped peas over night added them onions carrrots etc tastes great but over salty. Any one ? |

| Hi put sugar in it to cancel the salt, little at a time mind you or it'll just taste plain wierd. you shouldn't be able to taste the sugar until the point when the salt taste fades. To much sugar you can overcome with more salt, but it'll probably be a disgusting mess by then. Coincidence, just had pea & ham soup for lunch, yum. Si |

| Add a peeled raw potato to the soup and cook for about 20 minutes, as the potato cooks it absorbs the salt. Presumably, the larger the potato, the more salt it absorbs. If it is just a little bit salty, you can add a little sugar but you are safer to using the potato method. Afterwards, you can discard the potato or leave it in - up to you. |
