Was the ham soaked overnight in cold water to get the salt out.

You could try adding potatoes to it. These stock cubes are very salty &

I don't add any salt if I use them. Pea & ham is a great soup though.

Hi put sugar in it to cancel the salt, little at a time mind you or it'll just taste plain wierd. you shouldn't be able to taste the sugar until the point when the salt taste fades. To much sugar you can overcome with more salt, but it'll probably be a disgusting mess by then.

Coincidence, just had pea & ham soup for lunch, yum.

Hope it's not Irish ham! :-(

If it is, don't worry too much about the salt.........

Add a peeled raw potato to the soup and cook for about 20 minutes, as the potato cooks it absorbs the salt. Presumably, the larger the potato, the more salt it absorbs. If it is just a little bit salty, you can add a little sugar but you are safer to using the potato method. Afterwards, you can discard the potato or leave it in - up to you.

Eat a jar of pickled onions first and you won't notice the saltiness
