| sorry guys. I don't like to scrounge, but my beloved who has an addiction to making marmalade has just informed me we have but two jars left of the 100 he made last year. and 'no, I haven't eaten them all!'. so has anyone out there got a tree thatneeds picking . One that has oranges suitable for making marmalade?If so, please give me a phone number to ring, or an e mail, or contact me marionstuart@hotmail.com.

Me? i stay out o the kitchen. That is HIS toy and he just LERVS making marmalade.

| If you can't get bitter oranges, then mixing one grapefruit in the total weight of fruit can achieve the right level of 'twang' needed for that Seville Orange taste...
Don't worry if you are taking statins as Grapefruit Marmalade or Marmalade with some grapefruit is said to be fine... in fact bitter oranges contain the same inhibitors as Grapefruit and there also is no link between bitter orange marmalade and statins.
I use three oranges, one small grapefruit, (approx 750g in total) plus two lemons, 2.5 litres water and 1.4 kilo sugar. Makes 5 - 6 jars. |
