Police riding shotgun for Santa

I was driving home last night and saw our local Rotary club Santa Claus in his sledge, being towed by the reindeers ( a 4x4 really), this is an annual event and Santas little helpers collect money for charity as they go round the streets of the village.

I noticed that there was a police car both in front and behind the sledge and one of the officers was my brother in law so I pulled over to say hello and to ask what he was doing there. He explained that Santa had last year been verbally abused and the little helpers intimidated, what are we coming to in this country when even Santa is a target for hooligans, they had even tried to grab the collection buckets !!!

If this event were to be stopped because of this behaviour there would be a great many people upset, old and young alike look forward to this visit from Santa.

It certainly is, just another example of how low this country has sunk, thank God we will soon be moving to Cyprus, at least there children are taught some respect unlike here where it is a dirty word to many people.

it is not the country has sunk so low it is just a few of the scum that live there that are so low. there are those types in every country, even in little Cyprus. So easy to have a go at the UK!

oh hattikins that is so bad makes you think and you are quite correct in the behaivour of kids these days but i miss not seeing events like that this time of year. went southside today and there was a bit of xmas spirt and nice to see the shops done up and the music.

Quarmby... it is the country that has sunk so low. You are right that there are those types in every country, and the UK has many good kids, but they also have more than their fair share of yobs. Gang culture has now taken a grip of the UK and that is something that 'little cyprus' deffinately doesn't have. Infact, the youth here generally put the youth of the UK to shame. It's not just a scrap in the park anymore where you get a clip round the ear from the local bobby... it's guns and knives in the park where the bobby gets banged up if he so much as lays a finger on any of them!

My son is 3 next year and I know that he willhave a life here that the UK could never give him.

recently speaking to an Aussie TC in his 30's who has recently returned to Cyprus. His opinion was that he found the teenager, twenties in the TRNC to so disrespectful, he was ashamed and saddened. Everyone has their opinions.
