You would be better off selling it in the UK, and re-investing in a good pre-owned car here.

Think you will find that after shipping costs, duty, registration, etc, you won't be much better off.

If you re-export it within 3 months nowt to pay, provided that when it cam in it had at least 3 months UK road fund licence on it (tax disc).

To register your vehicle here it should be less than 3 years old, then when you pay the import duty you think you were buying a new one in the UK.

Some vehicles are allowed over 3 years i.e classic cars over 25 yrs old,

Van type vehicles.

I understand your situation but it is probably best to buy a vehicle here.

There is one other option, a bit like a game really. That is to put the vehicle on ZT (tourists plates) if you qualify to do so but you need to have a good sense of humour for this option. In the end you will be asked for a massive amount of duty. Think long and hard.

hi john if you drive it out you can keep it here for 1 year with out paying any inport , then you decide to pay inport duty or take back ,only you will be able to drive car ,untill taxes payed & you after paying duty

you cant sell for 2 years .not sure what duty wil be about , you can check at customs office

at least £12000 i think i did bring my own car after 2 years i sold it because road tax very high on 4x4

My TC friend brought his Merc ML in about two years ago. He paid duty of around 12k on it to give you come idea. He paid for it to be in a case not roll on roll off. It turned up with massive damage due to having what he thought was boxes stacked on it. So be aware if you decide to ship it.

Duty starts at around $8 per cc

This is before vat and port and army taxes etc.

So a 3 litre engine equals $24,000 then add the rest.

Loadsofmoney.
