Hi,

Hi

Ive been carrying some bad pains around in my abdomen/lower right hand side of my back. ive had these pains on and off for about 10 months. Ive had blood tests in the UK, and because I was passing blood in my urine, urine tests also. Nothing has been found to be wrong from these tests, but, i just had the same problem, ie blood in urine a day ago. I am thinking about going for an MRI scan and have read about Letam in Lefkosia. Does anyone have inforamtion about waiting lists, contact numbers, costs, procedures etc?

I will be grateful for any information.

Thanks,

Stu.

Near East Hospital have both MRI and CT scanners and some very good doctors - but they are expensive.

Letam are really good - very efficient and professional and probably the most cost effective. Their MRI scanner is in Lefkosa, almost opposite the state hospital. Their phone number is 0392-2273147/2273614.

Hang the expense....go to Near East Hospital. After trying the rest, Cyprus Life and Medikent with the same wrong diagnosis my wife was admitted to NEH where the problem was correctly diagnosed but unfortunately too late. Any hospital will do a scan but it is the interpretation of it that counts!!!!!

Listen, I'm Turkish. I've lived here for 7 years. I've been to many doctors & hospitals on both sides for family members and myself.

I had so many horror stories in the North that except for my excellent dentist (Dr. İpek, opposite passport) and ophtalmologist (Mustafa Taşeli in Nicosia), I would *never* go to any hospital in the North for anything serious.

Near East is a money trap, personally had a horror story there, I escaped just in time to Areteaio hospital in South Nicosia...

They have excellent doctors. I would personally recommend Dr. Efthyvoulos Anastassiades. He is a pathologist specialised in kidneys. If you prefer an urologist, Dr. Christofi is also very experienced. Average exam fee is EUR50 (EUR120 for Anastassiades because he does a 45 minute evaluation on your first meeting... After first one it is around EUR50). I dont know about MRI/CT but I guess it wont be more than Near East.

Yours is a serious issue, go to real do

I agree with message 10, the Areteaio is an excellent hospital with excellent staff, and the price they quote you is what you pay, and I found it very reasonable. I know other people that have also gone their, and been very happy with their treatment.
