I have been transferring money via internet for almost 5 years now my English bank say they no longer provide this service. Is anyone else having problems, we are with Iktisat bank and they don't use a UK bank so think this may be the problem.

Are there any banks here that use a UK bank as the depositing bank before it transfers over here.

Most UK banks will not let you transfer money overseas via internet banking, they will do it by telephone banking or going to the branch

Some of these problems may be connected to the fact that a lot of UK banks are now using card readers which they have issued to all of their on line customers. Nationwide, for instance, will not do transfers outside Nationwide without the customer using the card reader. Also bad news for people banking with Limassol Turkish - you can no longer transfer funds FOC via HSBC International in London. The reason for this is that Limassol have changed their intermediary bank to TEB in Istanbul because the HSBC were charging them ridiculous amounts to process payments for them.

I have been trying to transfere funds to inkisat bank today from an HSBC account. The pre-select forms for payment do not allow enough options to make the transfer online as it includes an intermediary bank before being transfered,so I went to the local branch to try and resolve the problem.

I was informed that the payment could be made by a chaps payment at a cost of £30 and they could set up this facility at the same time, but did advise me to open an HSBC acount in Cyprus.

It would appear that overseas banks that cannot afford or do not wish to fund a live branch in the UK do use a third 'intermediary bank' as most other transactions go via Mersin.

If you require the details for transfering funds to Inkisat bank please send me an e-mail and I will foreward them onto you.

I have had absolutely no problems transferring money to Iktisat Bank via my Barclays branch, I have a Lloyds TSB internet account and cannot transfer money overseas from it.

I had a nightmare transferring money from UK to Iktisat, it goes via a third party (TEB in Turkey) and the UK bank could not understand why this was so it got lost for about 3 weeks in Turkey!! had to put a trace on it in the end to get it back.

I have never had a problem transferring money here via Internet banking with HSBC. The important thing is to give the BIC & IBAN details for the Intermediary bank, not the local bank. The Beneficiary name is the only reference to the local TRNC bank & when given that under 'Beneficiary name' the Intermediary Bank know how to treat the transfer.

If you get clear instructions from your local bank in the TRNC about exactly what to tell your UK bank & ensure that your UK. bank follow those instructions, you should have no difficulty whatsoever.

I have also transferred money from First Direct using telephone banking because First Direct do not have an option for online overseas transfers. Again, they took the details from me & no problems whatsoever.

In every case bar one, regardless of using the online method from HSBC or the telephone method with First Direct, the funds arrived with my bank the next working day. Avoid starting transfers from UK. on a Friday for obvious reasons.
