Just a suggestion Hans but would it not be an idea to indicate the rates we can obtain here rather than the International Exchange Rates which are always higher. Also if possible, who and where the best exchange bureaus/banks are.

Msg 2. Monex, opposite Lemar Supermarket at Karakum offers reasonable rates for £/TL, €/TL, $/TL and always surpass banks/hotels and most Girne High Street exchange booths. Only useful for Girne area expats/tourists though and I do not have information of rates in other areas. Monex are on-line too. Hope this helps

Re msg. 3, a previous post this week was saying that Monexchange aren't as good as the ones in the High St., and must admit we've noticed the same over past few weeks, they're always a bit less and when you're changing a fair amount of money it makes a difference.

Believe it or not but after changing sterling at either Credit West,Universal or Monex I've found that Supreme Supermarket, who quote rates of exchange on a notice board, sometimes equal or even better than those mentioned. For those that live west of Girne, Supreme is at Catalkoy.

guys we are giving 2,83 to tl today, and the rate is going down every day. just be aware that the interest rates have gone up so makes tl more attractive

Monexcyprus,

Do you think the Lira will continue to fall??? I need to pay the final payment on a property of £20,000 which i converted into Lira 2 years ago at 2.45. So i am hoping it falls further to help cut my losses

lira has been strengthening against gbp and euro since the last week of 2011, and this trend has been continuing for the fırst few weeks of 2011. the continuation of the trend depends on how the eu tackle the sovereign debt crisis.
