Just been to do my residency, and the price of the blood test is now 135 TL used to be 80 / 100 TL, I dont see the point of this increase other than lets make more money out of the expats, just because we are under 60.

I am a regular blood donor and also have donated blood for local people having operations at short notice through the BRS and travelled to Lefkosia hospital to donate, which i am happy to do, but feel a little agrieved at the increase, any one have any comments ?.

Read previous posts. BRS have approached all the relevant ministries and got a reasonable response from the Health Min, but stymied pretty well with the others. Still working on it!

It does seem a bit steep.

Not that I agree with it, but the increase might have something to do with the additional unnecessary admin work.

You now have to go to the police station, they give you a slip which you then have to take to Girne hospital.

You then put your name on a list and hand over your passport along with your address and phone no and hand this to a member of the staff. Who then hands it over to another member of the admin staff who then processes the payment. This operation doesn't start until he has collected approx 30-40 passports.

Once you pay the 135 ytl you are given an address of a private clinic, where you go and hand over your passport and details again, and then you get two blood tests.

You then have to return to the private clinic 3 days later for the result of the TB injection and one week later return to Girne hospital for the blood test report.

You then have to return to the police station and complete the residency process which now has risen to 216 ytl.

Unless of course you had your blood test done at Girbe hospital and they cock your blood test up and say you have hep c then you must go to lefkosia health ministry where they will give you another slip to go to the main lefkosia hospital for another blood test cost 80 tl result is faxed to the heath ministry a week later and they call you to say.............ok or leave.
