I was privileged to meet him at a private film viewing 2 years ago and what a charismatic, eloquent and dynamic human being,I was in awe, he really was a true statesman and this country owes so much to him.

what a sad loss for Cyprus and his family. i was also privileged to meet him at the opening of Ercan. such a shame that he never got to see the Cyprus problem resolved.

The Lion of Cyprus has left us. His final battle was long and hard. Rest in Peace now brave warrior. No-one could have given more. There was a hope he would see a solution for his beloved Cyprus but it was not to be.



So sad. A brilliant statesman, a brilliant mind, unbending principles and a huge soft heart. He will be so missed.



Rauf was not just admired, he was loved.

A light went out in the TRNC last night. MY heart is heavy, may he rest in peace, he did so much for his country and even in illness and old age, he did so much for us the ex pats. May God grant peace and comfort to his family and friends.

A true Cypriot and will sadly be missed by all, He devoted his entire life on the Cyprus issue and TRNC will never see another statesman like him.



Even in his last breath, according to the Kibris Newspaper, he told his Daughter to tell the GC that TRNC will be here for long time to come.

So sad that this great leader will not be able to witness world wide recognition of the TRNC if this occurs sometime in the future as he more than any man deserved that. I feel that he was so inspirational that all Turkish Cypriots will continue to settle for nothing less.

RIP Mr Denktas and my condolences to his family, friends and all Turkish Cypriots. I am honoured to have met him several times, a warm and kind man who made time to talk to everyone he met whether young, old, Cypriot or foreign. I shall always remember him how I saw him most - with a welcoming smile on his face.
